Hardware Wii can't read Gamecube discs for some reason

Okay, so my Wii can read Wii games fine, but when I try to put in Gamecube games, it just says

"An error has occured. Please eject the disc and turn off the Wii and refer to the Wii Operations Manual"

What could possibly cause this error? Is there a program I might have installed that does this?

its definitely a program you've installed which has caused this, my mates wii is the exact same, wont play official GC games or copies!
I need the answer to this too please!

Retail discs or backups? Modchip or not?

Well, in all cases, disable any priiloader or Startpatch hack that is related to gamecube games first, they don't work anyways.

For retail discs:
Install a MIOS or the cMIOS from here:
http://gbatemp.net/t219243-neogamma-r9-beta-test

For backups(from disc channel!):
Get WiiGator's(with backu launcher support) or Waninkoko's cMIOS. And make sure you can read DVD-Rs in disc channel(darkcorp).

Same thing happens cant play retail gamecube games the only preloader hack I have on is Block disc updates and online updates.
