Actually, why has no one made a homebrew torrent client for the Wii yet?

EDIT : Oh, and being able to get rid of Opera would save me SO much NAND space.
I would try u torrent.(my personal fave.) seeing that it's an open source. or even kick ass though that one might be a little harder.(just cause of the way it works.)
i would love to kick opera to the curb.

Can we have multiple people working on this, so that it can get developed faster? @gave92
Man if i knew how to write code i would be all over this.(like a fat chick on a chocolate fountain.). the best i can do is upload this channel i made for use in the main menu.(that is if people need it. i've been using wiiflow to launch this.).
but i am down for testing when gave92 needs some people to do it.

Thanks for the update gave92.( well not really an update. just the files needed for homebrew.).
@Mods, can this get stickied? this is a well made app. an deserves it.(just as postloader is.).

Well, I do need people for testing!
I'm currently focusing on video support: I got it to work on some sites,
but I can't test it on youtube because of where I am (China -> youtube blocked)
I'm uploading a debug version for anyone who wants to try it:
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=AD184A76A70E8923!21763&authkey=!APNYpVbYkott1_E

Please try to browse an url containig a video (ex. www.w3schools.com/html/movie.mp4)
or a youtube url (ex. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4VVrl3Cqio)
putting them manually in bookmarks, and let me know if it works ;)
Please report any bug in this thread or here "http://code.google.com/p/wiibrowser/issues/list"
a readable screenshot of eventual code dumps would be useful too

I will do some testing tonight. Right now I'm in the middle of testing a Dell build of Chrome OS. BRB :)

EDIT
I tested the w3schools clip and it works OK but without a "=" key in the virtual keyboard, I was not able to try a Youtube clip. Also, the browser wont pick up my favorites in the config file.

I tested the YouTube link, it displays a single frame of the video then blackscreens.
If you can, I'd need a readable screen of the error (code dump)

I updated the uploaded version (same url): it adds a '=' button in the virtual keyboard
and stores some debug messages that should help me understand why the app does not load settings:
please send me the "debug.txt" that should be created

However were the settings loaded/saved in previous versions (rev37..)?

Thanks for the "=" button. I'm surprised you are not copying Opera's setup in regards to button operations and navigation. Using the d-pad to scroll up and down is kinda awkward:P Anywho This project is improving well too bad you don't have someone that could help you with the page rendering engine :(

New little update: it modifies app controls to be more opera-like.
Hold B: Free Scroll (maybe I should reverse the direction)

B + Directional pad up: Refresh current page
B + Directional pad down: Save page
B + Directional pad left: Browse homepage
B + Directional pad right: Enter new URL
B + (-) key : Go Back a page
B + (+) Key: Go forward one page

Next days I'll try to find out what's wrong with youtube videos

SO awesome that the controls match Opera! As long as the page dragging operation isn't reversed from the Internet channel, It's all good! Gave92 YOU are AWESOME! You really have given the little white box some new life! I'll test the latest version in a few minutes. As always, BRB.

Looking forward to the next build of your browser. My computer isn't really good for compiling things, as it's simply a mess. Nonetheless, matching the Wii Opera's browsing style is really nice to see, as it's a very nice GUI for such a crappy browser.

Maybe I got it :yaywii:
This time youtube videos should work:
I'm uploading the new version, it will be done in 10 mins

EDIT: done

I think HTML5 video players are apps written in (or that use) HTML5 to play Flash video files.
So, your browser needs to support HTML5 to run them, and the full HTML5 protocol is some pretty heavy stuff!
If you're going to follow that path, I think a better option (or at least an easier one!) would be to port one of the existing open source HTML layout rendering engines to the Wii!
For example WebKit (used by Google Chrome), Presto (used by Opera), Gecko (used by Firefox), or other lightweight ones, and then build your own interface and user features around that!:creep:
Really great post, would read again!

Is this better than Internet Channel? I haven't used Internet Channel since it supported Flash, and that was a big feature of it IMO so I'm sad they removed it.
