You could always get another Wii, do the same and then you have a pair of nice Nintendo bookends. They would make a nice conversation piece. Dude, listen to FenrirWolf, he knows what he's on about!

Won't do anything. You see, with a stubbed IOS60 the System Menu can't boot at all.

With Preloader or Bootmii boot2 I think you are pretty much doomed. Try sending it to Nintendo and say the 4.2 update caused it. You might fall lucky, or at worst get them to send it back if they try charging you. What have you got to lose?

I do think its a firmware thing, for starters the system menu 4.2 uses IOS70 as opposed to 4.0/4.1 which uses IOS60 so there can be differences between 4.x and 4.x firmwares.

I still say send it to Ninty and say it was a 4.2 update problem and see what they say.

Why do people even make wads like that? It's a sick joke.

It's not like people are making wads for bricking other peoples wiis.
The problem is, like already explained, that with 4.2 the system menu uses IOS70 instead of IOS60, so IOS60 gets stubbed (won't do anything except exit).
Then when somebody tries to install an old system menu, that still uses IOS60, it gets bricked because all it does is exit.

So, to make a long story short, those wads used to work, but now they brick because of that change by nintendo.

Hope it makes sense.

There has to be some way.... Some way to format or restore without bootmii. How would Nintendo fix it? Put in a new motherboard or something?

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
