Hardware Wii Backup Manager / WBFS Solid State Problem

So I have an external HD enclosure that I put an SSD in. I used Wii backup manager and formated it to the WBFS file system, now I cannot access the SSD drive at all. Even in bios it cannot recognize it. Did I just turn the SSD in to an expensive paper weight?

that should not have over written the firmware. Not being seen in bios is a problem. you can return it and claim its defective.

What brand SSD is it? It sounds like the drive lost power without flushing it's cache and got corrupted. You might be able to repair it with the tools from the manufacturer (if they offer any.)
