I'm hoping that you sent the wrong file because this one only has 1 partition..

My code will only try to process partitions found in the table, so there's literally no way there would be an error reading the second partition if it doesn't exist in the table.

Can you send me the full log with the errors (from the log folder)? Then I could ask for a specific game that I can see has the problem.

Cheers.

I have a question, and I'm sorry if this has already been addressed. I read through about 30 pages of this thread and haven't seen anything. I have The Wii Backup Manager version 0.3.9 build 63. I am trying to use it to backup a file, and I am getting a "system error. code 112: there is not enough space on disk."

The probelm is, is that there IS enough space. The folder is 3.71 GB and the disk drive has 30 GB free! I followed the directions at the beginnning of this thread. Does anyone ahve any insight? Thanks!

Maybe this is such a case.

Temp files in other location are also seen: current dir, src dir(!?), program dir, the root of D:\(this one is apparently MS' favourite

It sounds like you're trying to transfer an ISO to a FAT32 drive.

There should be a warning message now when you try to do that, but I must've missed 1 or 2 places.. Can you let me know exactly what you tried to do? eg. transfer to ISO from Drive 1..

Edit: And like PsyBlade suggested, check your temp folder isn't on a FAT32 drive as well.

I have checked the iso file of this game with wiiscrubber
As I said yesterday, There is one partition only!!

Hope this is helpful.

Is there any possible just something wrong in partition info or ...
The data partition is ok?

Thanks

What if there is 110 GB free on C:\?

Also, is there a alternative program to Wii Backup Manager that is coded better? Thank you!!

@nobody_tw
If there is a dodgy second partition in the table, the game partition is probably OK because the first partition passed the hash check. The file you sent me shows that there is only 1 partition, so I won't get the error with partition 2.

If you can use wit to create a skeleton file from the wbfs, it will contain the error that I can test.

wit skel "sourcefilename" --ciso

But, because the error doesn't exist in the file you sent, it means that transferring it to an ISO did fix it, like I suggested.

@twbrazell
Good luck...

you have a wii disc image (called *.iso most of the time)
and want it on another hard drive too?
simply use windows explorer or something alike.

fig2k4,

Can you please fix the issue I describe in post 2074 My Post
This issue occurred when WBM went from 0.3.5-beta1 - 0.3.6-beta1. It has been broken in every release since including the latest 0.3.9 build 63.
Thanks...

0.4.0 build 64 has just been posted.

Changes..
|-Fixed: Various little improvements and fixes here and there.
|-Added: A splash screen, because the load time has increased slightly, mainly due to loading the database at startup. The check for updates happens while the splash screen is visible now too.
|-Changed: WiiTDB is now GameTDB. All cover URLs etc. have been changed.
|-Added: WiiTDB xml support. Database browser tab with a basic filter dialog. Synopsis and controller info etc. can be shown for games on any of the tabs. Either copy the xml file to the WBM folder or update from the Tools menu on the database tab to start using it.
|-Fixed: Really small WBFS files would show as invalid because some internal values were rounded down to zero instead of up to one.
|-Fixed: Update check, so it doesn't increment the views counter on filetrip. Sorry about that..
|-Fixed: Feedback, send mail ShellAPI call (when MAPI failed) wasn't working.

I'm looking for ideas on how people would want to use the WiiTDB game information. The way it's implemented now is just a simple browser with synopsis and controller info for the highlighted game...

@MrGreg
Sorry, I must've missed that page when I was catching up.. I think I'll remove the "Full scrubbing mode" in the next version because it doesn't really have any benefits. It saves a few meg, but fragments the file more than normal. I'll double check that your problem doesn't occur when using regular scrubbing and fix that if necessary.

Fig2k4,

one small glitch in this new release.
it looks like the url to download the pics have changed to :
http://art.gametdb.com/.....

so no image download is currently working.
for the people using the app. no need to wait for a new release
option/settings/covers
all way down modify the different cover type you want
change all the
www.gametdb.com to art.gametdb.com

great news to see you are working on the DB again.
we have been discussing that for a while now.

here are a couple of things you could consider adding :
- hide filter (for region and type)
- status (owned [if a game is found it should be defined as] / wanted / .... any status one could deem interesting)
- maybe for the controller you could add an option image or text... although I think the images are great, I would rather keep it as a simple text list.
- resizable window for the bottom part (controller + synopsis)
- I am missing (or maybe I missed) the cover download option in the database tab.

this is a very quick overview..
just wanted to say thanks for this new version,

Cheers,
R

Thanks for that. I was obviously using an old settings.ini with the old URLs, silly error.

I released a quick fix for it, mostly for new users because it's easy to edit the URLs like you said.

- hide filter (for region and type)
I was thinking about having lists for each filter, instead of just 1. eg. Show PAL and NTSC-U, all others would be hidden. That should cover it. That was the original plan, but I kept it simple for this release just to make sure it all worked.

- status (owned [if a game is found it should be defined as] / wanted / .... any status one could deem interesting)
Yep. The database is read only for now, but once I know it's stable I can expand on it..

- resizable window for the bottom part (controller + synopsis)
I should add another splitter so it can be resized vertically.

- I am missing (or maybe I missed) the cover download option in the database tab.
If you mean the batch download, it's not implemented by request of da management (gametdb). Imagine thousands of users batch downloading all the covers for each of the ~6000 games in the database. That's a lot of unnecessary bandwidth. The displayed cover downloads should work as normal..

Cheers for the feedback, it makes all the difference.

scrap my comments about the filters.
you did an awesome job and it is working like a charm.

nonetheless maybe you can consider a couple of things :
- allow permanent filters (once again a really good example is region and/or type)
- allow title filtering directly through an edit box in the interface rather than having to enter an option menu.
- split the filter menu out of the tools. it could look something like
- tools
---- .....
- filter
---- Region (checkboxes)
------[] NTSC-J
------[] NTSC-K
------[] NTSC-T
------[] NTSC-U
------[] PAL
------[] PAL-R
------[] region free
---- Type (checkboxes)
------[] channel
------[] custom
------[] gamecube
------[] homebrew
------[] VC-Arcade
------[] VC-C64
------[] VC-MD
------[] VC-N64
---- Language
------[] Filter by selected language
------- select languages (an option page with language selection)
---- advanced (an option page with the rest of the filter you already created)
- in the DB it would be great if you could also set it up so you keep the date when a game is added to our list...

Cheers,
R

edit :
just saw you answered while I was typing.
makes sense for the batch cover download... to avoid receiving questions about that you should leave the option but show a pop up if someone clicks it... I fully support your position and I am sure everyone will.
happy to hear that you are already considering the filter part.
and (you know that) I can't wait for you to move forward on the DB ;)

Fig,

I got a question.
currently how do you choose the display language for the synopsis ?

+ I think I spotted a problem with the filter,
or I should probably say that it is an extra wish on my side. :P
in the filter you have "language"... but I believe it is only taking into account the actual game region.
couldn't you filter the games which contains the actual language as gametdb list has them ?

Cheers,
R

currently how do you choose the display language for the synopsis ?
Until I figure out something better, it uses the titles language setting. If that locale isn't found for a game, it uses English and then anything else that can be found. Eventually, I want to tie everything in with the language you've selected for the interface (ie. options->language->..)

in the filter you have "language"... but I believe it is only taking into account the actual game region.
WiiTDB has a list of languages for each game. eg. EN, FR, ES. This is what the language filter uses. So if you select PAL and FR, it should only show games with that region and language. The database is far from complete though, so it might not be filtered exactly how you'd expect. Using PAL and EN, for example, only shows around 300 games..

Some of the other ideas are already planned, I just want to make sure it's stable first.

Using the menu to quickly filter the region would probably be best. I'll see how I can best fit the other ideas in as well. :)

Edit: This was a pic I showed on facebook in which I accidentally left the planned filter controls visible. They look a mess, but you'll get the idea. :) http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.226041514115713.67449.225154264204438&type=3

Fig,

I like the pic you attached... exactly what I was hoping for :D
for the language... I think you are going through the cleanest approach.

one more thing you could add now that you are implementing the DB :
---- double click on the game launch a popup with ALL the game info, or an internet page on gametdb, whatever is easier.
about that, what info are you keeping in your DB ??? everything or are you stripping part of it ?

for the language filter.. that is (once again) what I was hoping for.. but it looks broken.

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:324]
as you can see in this picture
I am in the DB tab.
I filter a specific game : SMNP01 : New Super Mario Bros. Wii, looking specifically for SMNP01
here is what the wiitdb contains.

as long as I have no language filter, it works like a charm,
but if I add any language filter except EN I get an empty list.
makes me wonder if you missed a loop in your filter ;)

Cheers,
R

ps. as always hit me with any beta you want me to look into.
pps. started working on the translation but I will wait for the next stable release as you will be probably adding quite a lot of things for the DB

It does look like there's something wrong with the language filter. I'll have a better look later tonight..

I can't see the image you posted, no permission.

I was thinking the same about the game info popup. I really need to implement the right click menus some time as well. :)

Almost everything is parsed from the xml. I left out the new genre lists because I already coded something similar to collect the lists you see in the filter dialog. I also left out the rom version info, hashes etc.

The ratings are kept as a paired list internally, with the body's rating (ESRB etc.) and an age that I've given it. So it'll be easy to sort games by the minimum age.

if that picture has been uploaded using the quick upload feature, then it's another thing we need to fix.
Users should be able to post it even if set to private.

Thanks Fig2k4 for updating it :)
You always disappear without leaving a message, users think you left and abandon the program and won't come back, and suddenly you reappear :D
If one day you really drop the project, just tell us first ;)

@Cyan,

yes this pic was uploaded using the quick upload.

@fig

I am sure you already understood what I was talking about.
but still here is the pic if needed.
