@Patryc
I do plan to finish the gamecube support. I just need to get my head into it again and figure out whatever the problem was that I had. I honestly can't remember what that problem was now. Essentially, gamecube ISOs are just like a single Wii game partition, without any partition table etc. so once I look at the code again with fresh eyes, I should be able to get it working..

@redia
I'm not exactly sure what you want to do with multiple users. Can you give an example?

Once thing that does spring to mind is user defined tags. So you could tag a game as "wanted", "not for kids", "lol, this game is crap" or whatever. That would take some of the burden off of me to come up with tags that everyone wants. :) The filter dialog could allow you to choose a list of tags to filter the list, just like choosing the cover region order etc. in the settings. Also, you could add multiple tags to a game.

The right click menu would have something like..

- Tag as
---- Wanted
---- Owned
---- New Tag..

Thanks for your reply!

Usually there is only one partition, but there are also MULTIBOOT discs. And MULTIBOOT discs with DVD9 support have different offset (*4 like Wii).

How about adding a feature that lets us compare our current drive against the database so we can see what games we do not have.
You mean you want a list about the ~5700 discs you don't own?
Useless because no one will read this large list!
@wimm..
lol... you are not totally wrong.

but let's take another example :
- someone is a mario freak
- he/she wants to make sure he owns all the games related
- he/she is lazy
- he/she filters the DB using the appropriate entries (name : mario, region : his/hers, language : his/hers)
- he/she clicks on "select items not on drive X"
- he/she exports the results and voila.. he/she can buy the games he is interested.

ok this scenario is ridiculous, but filtering by rating or game type could really make sense...

Cheers,
R

could be usefull with other filters
eg a list of all unowned PAL singing games

ok, you're right: A filtered list together with optional exception lists (I own / hidden) are useful.

btw: This is very simple and customizable if using unix tools like awk and comm.

@fig2k4, i was working on a new dutch translation for WBM, and i noticed that langstrings.txt in the lang folder is way smaller than the language files. Is this correct, or is it incomplete?

You shouldn't touch the langstrings.txt. That file contains strings that are parsed from my code and it allows you to use the "Update language strings" to reorganise the lang files.

When you've translated a few strings, you can use the "Update language strings" to move all the untranslated ones to the bottom again so it's easier to see what still needs translated. It also updates any old lang files to contain strings for the current version of WBM, so you don't have to look through the old file, copying and pasting the strings one at a time.

When I use that function, it reparses the source code and updates everything so that the strings are up to date. It's a real time saver.

Thanx for explaining, btw, i was only using the langstrings.txt as an example for what to translate, i am actually modifying the dutch langfile..hehe
Anyway, it still seems rather big, is WBM really using about 2000 lines of translation?

Hi, fig

Is the new function of WBM (sha-1 hash check) fixed?

What I have checked myself are all OK to this new function.
I have played some backup which were problematic.
WBM have checked them out. Great!!
But there has one backup was reported as corrupt. (from my friend)
It will be down within the game somewhere.

WBM checked it as hash error (using version 63).
But it was checked as normal (using version 66).
Is this normal?

The bug you have fixed can explain this condition or something wrong?

Thanks!!

I'm upgrading my hard drive..

When I format it to WBFS, it says Physical sector size is 500 discs..
Does that mean I can only fit 500 discs on the drive?

I bought a big drive so I can fit a lot more than that..

Otherwise, I'll take this one back and just buy several 500G drives..

Yes wbfs is limited to 500 games
just use a real filesystem
I suggest fat32 for hbc and emulator compability
eg. cfgloader can use fat32 and ntfs too (and ext2,ext3,ext4 readonly afaik)

You mean I can use another file system?

I thought I HAD to use wbfs!

If I format Fat32, will the ISO still be trimmed when I copy them to the hard drive via Wii Backup Manager?

WBFS has been "obsolete" for the average user for quite a while. FAT32 is the most recommended nowadays. Theres really no advantages for the average user by using wbfs, compared to fat32 which can be used everywhere.

WBM coverts the ISO files to .wbfs during transfer. This is needed in order to read the files on the Wii, and in many cases to even be able to place the game on the HDD in the first place (except NTFS, which supports files larger than 4GB, and some loaders can run ISO's from ntfs as well)
a .wbfs converted file will also generally take less space than the .iso, because .wbfs got all the dummy-data removed.
Awesome example would be mario all-stars wii, the .iso is its usual ~4.5GB, but the game itself is actually only 16MB. So therefore, when coverted to .wbfs, it will only take 16MB HDD space rather than ~4.5GB

Is there a hard drive size limit?

I formatted the 1.5T drive to fat32, transferred all my backups to it, but USB Loader GX isn't seeing it..

I either get '0 Games' in the list (meaning I have the drive hooked up to the wrong USB port), or a greenscreen..

?

FAT32 has a theoretical limit of 2(?) TB iirc. 1.5TB is fine.

Dont know what the issue might be, but you could try another loader such as cfg usb loader.
