Why is the conversion speed so fluctuating in the latest release ?
Goes to 40MB/s then to 20 then to 1 ..then raising again...etc
Transfer is done to the internal HDD

I wanted to update this, and still hope I can get an answer (if any one knows...). I dl'ed the most up to date version of WBM, and tried with it in the same fashion I described above and received the same result. Then I went ahead and tried doing just one game by itself, in case moving a lot at once was causing the issue. I reformatted the drive just to be sure, and moving just a single game from wbfs to wbfs also produced the same result, game was larger and would not load. Next I reformatted the second drive to NTFS (32KB cluster size) and attempted another move, of a single game. The game moved over, was actually now smaller in size, and loads when I connect it to the wii. I will try doing a few more and check back to see if anyone can tell me why it will not transfer from wbfs format to wbfs format but will transfer from wbfs to ntfs...

Hey all. I started working on WBM again today.

Around 275 thousand downloads of the last version, WOW.

And that's only from my links. Imagine if everyone donated just £1...dreaming....lol...back to reality..

Hopefully I can get out some needed fixes soon and work on this for a while again.

For now, I'm slowly working through the reported problems on here. Here's a list of changes so far today..

|-Added: Export template "HTML table with covers" by Echizen.
|-Added: Option to disable notification sounds. Some people find the "ding" annoying. See Options->Settings->General->Misc..
|-Fixed: View->Tabs->Downloads option wasn't applied correctly after restart.
|-Fixed: System drive was visible in the format dialog.
|-Added: Archive password dialog. Entered passwords are stored only for the current session.
|-Fixed: After an archive was extracted, the usage size wasn't calculated, which caused the ISO to labelled as invalid.
|-Added: Error message when trying to transfer ISOs to anything other than NTFS, since it isn't possible.
|-Fixed: CISO was broken when removing partitions. eg. using game partition only.
|-Fixed: Disk cache thrashing that was caused by writing 1 Wii sector at a time, now using 1 WBFS sector again. The transfer speed should be more stable.

@Dravial
Transferring WBFS to WBFS where the destination drive is larger than the source usually takes more space. It's just the way WBFS works, due to the block size. The transferred game should work though, so I really need to check that. I don't have a spare drive large enough, so I tested using a VHD in Windows 7. I transferred a game from a small WBFS drive to a 1TB VHD (where it used more space as expected), then transferred to CISO and the game worked fine in Dolphin. That means all the data was still intact. If I manage to get another drive for testing, I'll be able to track down the problem easier..

@Debug
I'll have a look at the hash problem soon. I have a feeling it's related to renaming the titles. IIRC, "Allow permanent changes to Wii disc header" makes changes to the WBFS files that invalidates the hash. If you could tell me if you have that enabled it would help me.

Thanks, I've added it.

I noticed a few little problems in this version. The help menu disappears with some translations (it gets covered) and the Catalan translation uses the same word "Sobre" for Top and About. I'm not sure which one is correct, so I removed the translation for About. The "new version available" label isn't anchored to the right side. No-one will notice that until the new version is released anyway. The other things I mentioned are already fixed.

Just finished implementing the SHA-1 integrity check. So now the games can be verified using only the internal partition data hashes from the Wii disc.

In other-words, any game can be checked for corruption at any time.

I'm glad to hear from you as well.

I think maybe I got the urge to work on this again too early this year, the place usually gets busier in winter. Although, there's been over 600 downloads of build 62 already in just a few hours, so it's not that quiet.

About the progress.. I think I'll add 3 options for integrity checks during transfers.

1. No hash checks enabled.
2. Verify SHA-1 with any failures logged as a warning.
3. A hash check failure is considered to be a critical error. Skip the transfer, with an error in the log.

I'll keep the MD5 hashes just now too because it's very quick to compare with another drive.

Cheers

A quick update with some fixes and the SHA-1 integrity check..

0.3.9 build 63
Changes log..
|-Fixed: Archive password dialog wasn't shown when adding a folder.
|-Added: SHA-1 hash integrity test. Any game can be checked for corruption using the internal Wii disc hashes. See Tools->SHA-1->Verify.. It's a lot slower than MD5 because 31 hashes need to be calculated for every Wii disc sector, but can tell if a game is corrupt without pre-calculating anything.
|-Fixed: When using some languages, the help menu was covered and the "New version" label wasn't anchored to the right side.
|-Changed: When sending feedback without attachments, ShellAPI is used instead of MAPI. If the MAPI method fails, you can now send a regular email via ShellAPI and manually attach any files if necessary.
|-Fixed: Attachment settings in the feedback form weren't saved.
|-Added: A link to the facebook page in the help menu.

Edit: BTW, if someone can let me know if the update check works in build 62 I'd appreciate it. You should see a "new version available" at the top right of the window, or you can use the check for updates in the help menu... Thanks.

hey welcome back, hopefully you'll be able to maintain this GREAT PROGRAM!!!!!

Hey fig2k, i hope you make the best wii game transferring program even better...

i also have an idea, it would be very cool to implement an option to transfer wiiware /VC games from wad to nand (just like ShowMiiWads) or from nand to nand.

This would be very usefull i think..and if it can all be done from one program, it would be awsome.

Here using build 62, and the "New version available" message is working.
Thanks for the great work and welcome back!

the update check works

Hey fig2k4, can you double check that the modified time of the wbfs folder is updated after adding or removing a game with wbm? Wiiflow's caching relies on the mtime of the wbfs folder being > the mtime of the cache file in order to tell if it needs recached.

Thanks for the feedback about the update check.

@Etheboss
I've never used Wiiware or Virtual Console stuff at all, so I'd need to get it set up here first and see how it works..

@mugotu
I did a quick test, adding and removing games, updating the storage convention etc. and the wbfs folder modified date/time seems to get updated OK. I'll keep checking with other drives..

Yeah, seems you fixed it inadvertantly in this last release xD, I had some of my testers try it out.

"[03:18] anyways tried the latest wbm and the games are showing up now in wiiflow

"

In the previous version without the mtime being updated the cache would not update in wiiflow and the games would not show up unless they forced the cache to rebuild. Thanks for fixing it xD, and excellent work so far on it. Wii Backup Manager is THE backup manager, nothing out there even comes close.
