I'm just curious if 0.24 had it when I transferred 23 games and it took 2.5 hours.
Direct drive to drive's been there a while, but I was using unbuffered transfers for everything, which made it quite slow. Personally, I can see a big speed difference in 0.3.0 since using buffered transfers.

Thanks! I'll test that at some point.

Any plans to add Menu Channel creation like Loadstructor? That would be awesome to have an app where everything is integrated!

Great program regardless!

No plans for that at the moment. Mostly because I want this new version back up to par with the older versions, feature-wise. The other reason would be that I haven't got a clue how to do it, like everything else Wii related in this app, until I learned how.

I know there are PC programs that allow you to run mac apps on a PC (like Macdrive), if there is a similar program but for macs that will allow them to run PC apps, that may help you out. Just an idea, sorry I can't tell you more.
Yeah if I had an Intel Mac I would probably run Parallels to run Wii Backup Manager but I'm on a 4 year old PowerBook G4.

@fig2k4 Will u be adding the ability to put wbfs files into subfolders when adding to hdd, as cfg loader now allows this?

What is game index ? Every game shows 0 in my case.

Index is irrelevant. or maybe I should say useless, for single game files
it is used only for multi game iso.
each game is indexed started from 0.. that's why every single game file shows only 0..

from your post I take it that you do not have any of these disc/file .
that's why you didn't figure it out.

Transfer Speed Question...

Fig, I was using one of your latest builds (with the new progress bar) to transfer about 223 .wbfs file games to a USB - NTFS formatted drive. It took only 4 hours to complete, which copying to the same drive formatted as FAT32 using Robocopy took 6 hours.

Would you guess that is because of the format of the drive, or because your doing something cool in your transfer that speeds things up?

Just curious, because if you are, I'm going to use your tool for all my transfers, even though I'm now using FAT format.

Thanks,

Jason

I'm using build .30 beta 3, and I don't see the export game list anywhere anymore?

Am I crazy or did WBM used to do this?

jstevenson72,

version .30 is a total remake of the program.
some options are not implemented yet as fig2k4 wanted to make sure the transfert were working fine before adding any other option.
hold still, everything will be back soon

NTFS may be faster than FAT32, I'm not sure. Any code I've seen is using non-buffered files. I'm not sure why that is, but it could be the main cause of the speed increase, since I changed to using normal buffered files.

I've came up with a hybrid version of my ideas for the titles. Basically, it uses on the fly renaming, but allows manual renaming at the same time. In the image..

Blue = titles that have been renamed on the fly from titles.txt, can be automatically/permanently renamed.
Green = titles that don't need renamed, titles.txt entry is already the same.
Black = Not found in titles.txt, you'll need to rename it manually if you want to..

I'll add a colour selection thing in settings later, to customise these colours as well as the progressbars etc..

All of my games are in titles.txt, I just deleted 1 to test.

Edit:
@Benjay
Forgot to mention that the UTF8Decode() works great. Thanks man.

They're RAR files.. I can only show the size of the ISO inside, until it's been extracted. Since I can't calculate the disc usage.

@nikeymikey
Using the folders on the drives page will be quite easy.. On the files page though, I think the best way is just to still deal with individual .wbfs files, ignoring the folders.

fig2k4,

AWESOME !!!!

I love the way you are implementing it !

the only question remaining is what are you renaming (the file itself and/or the name inside the file) ? and is it going to be flexible ?

I am dying to see this option in action
wink.gif

will you take the opportunity of having the titles.txt implemented to add the support for naming convention on iso/ciso files transfert ?

Cheers,
R

See. Really looking forward to this feature.

Besides, I really hope the "Allow duplicates" feature can be added in the next release. This feature is very important to me.

Thanks a lot !

With WBFS, the title will be in the WBFS disc info block.
.wbfs it's the same as WBFS, with the folder (or text file) renamed as well.

ISOs etc. extracted from WBFS will use the original title, not the one from WBFS.

Only renaming on the fly is allowed on the files page. To save messing with original ISOs. If it's needed, then I could add a feature later where ISO files are renamed only. To mass rename ISO files according to some sort of naming convention.

please please please please please.. pretty please..

I am really waiting for this option.
this way I can throw any iso at the program and automatically rename it to the name given by the community in the titles.txt
otherwise I end up having an iso file with a (slightly) different name and it can end up being confusing.
and the problem rise when I look at my WBFS drive which has the "correct" name, then I look for the ISO and can't find it because it has another name.
what I really want is a way to standardize the file name/display through the hole process (except .wbfs file until oggzee finds a solution
wink.gif
)

I understand that you don't want to mess with the original iso file somehow. but a rename option shouldn't be such a big deal even for noobs..

ps: did I say please ?

You could use the size of the rar archive as an estimate. Or you could probably get the compressed size of the iso (i don't know if the unrar library supports that).
This is inaccurate of course (and will only work for scrubbed iso's), but better than nothing IMO.

Just a small point for anyone using any forwarder iso's:

Although the backup manager does list them under the 'files' tab and install them to a drive (from which they will function correctly), the 'drive' tab shows them highlighted in red as invalid and of 0MB size.

This might case some to delete the 'invalid' files (containing apparently zero data), which of course will mean that their forwarder iso will disappear.

Not a major worry, once people are aware of the fact that these are not actually invalid files, just presently unrecognized.

This is from v0.3.0, prior to that they show up as small games.
