That's right. I set my country to Germany when buying the Wii Point since they're cheapest there (100 points per €)

That workaround for getting European VC games didn't work for me. All it did was completely screw up my nintendo wifi. >.<

It's possible that the update is parental controls for the Wii browser? I know that the Wii only says like... 2 things after you update, but after all the fuss about teenagers looking at porn on their Wii's, it would kinda make sense for Nintendo to regulate it(especially since Nintendo's lawyers have already had one Wii-friendly porn page taken down).

is it possible that they changed some settings from the sensor bar ?

i just noticed after the update that i can use the wiimote in the menue from barely the double of the distance i could before ... normaly when i am at my computer the pointer won't show up and when i get little bit more near to the sensor bar the pointer is shaking like hell and now i can use the wiimote without any shaking from my computer ... ~3 meter

The whole thing was "Wii-friendly porn PAGE" As in, one of those pages that has popped up which makes content more accessible to the Wii internet browser by using a much larger font and icons, so that you're not having to constantly zoom in to read stuff. Wait till some stuff comes out like on PSP then big N will do more updates or even forces you to update to be able to play/shop/inet.

Ow and for europeans that actually use the Euro, no need in changing to another country, it's everywhere the same in euro's so far i know

even N didn't give FREE VC games for x-mass or new year :/

I updated to latest version and all i noticed was the Wii got more unstable..

Pressed Home on WiiMote to get out of MiiChannel.. pressed Wii Menu.. and YES.. screen went black.. then nothing for 2-3 mins.. had to unplug to reboot the Wii

And after i rebooted i was about to start Wario Ware Smooth Moves.. and the little "video" of the spinning DVD's took 5-6 seconds longer then usual before it descided it was a DwiiD and started the game.. (had a couple of more "hangups" also involving the Wii Browser but that could be anything ;D), should also say that i have never had any lockups of my Wii before outside of the Wii Browser..

and if you ever want to go online with your Wii you WILL get the update, like it or not, cuz as soon as you have made the settings it checks the settings and downloads the update.. guess you always could unplugged it as soon as it wants to update but imho that would be more risky then actually updating.

on a sidenote... i wish they could make for the Wii as for the DS with the "demo games", that way atleast i wouldnt feel as much for a "hack" to play backups etc, if i like it i buy it

At least people aren't chucking their Wiimotes at the power button in an attempt to turn it off...

yeah i do know that i can hold the button to reboot.. but it had hanged.. all that happened when i held the button for 3-4 seconds was that the WiiMote turned of and when i held it on the Wii nothing happened...

hence me beeing "upset" about needing to unplug to reboot

No, he's right, pressing the Power-Button on the Wii (NOT Wiimote) for a few secs will act as a forced shutdown.
