Back in 2002, GBAtemp was a site that would temporarily host the latest GBA ROMs. Those times have passed, but the name stayed the same for the sake of community.
If they called it Filetemp it would signify that the site would have the same premise (hosting files temporarily), so they went for a more tasteful name.

this name was chosen by both me and Shaun when we designed the site, but I can't remember why we went for FileTrip over FileTemp, maybe the domain was already registered at the time.
