    I Googled this and didn't find anything, so...

    Why is R4 called R4? It's such a random name and doesn't really seem to relate to anything off the top of my head.

    Yeah, it was called the R4DS, short for Revolution For DS. I had an original one and it said that on the packaging.

    Surely Google would have helped here? But yeah, as everyone (almost) has said, it stands for Revolution For DS, I had an original when they first came out, expensive back then....

    Interesting. I had the original R4 many years ago and just upgraded to the new R4i. Never knew what it stood for. Thanks :)

    Surely the box that pops up and is shown everywhere along with every single clone that uses the title R4 would have given the hint.

    it really did what it meant. it created a revolution for the ds especially due to its price and compatibility. It was the master and sadly brought along many clones due to it popularity and effectiveness.

    YWG made it even revolutionary when he revived it and made it the most compatible flashcart.

    It was going to be called 'Arthur' but the correct pronunciation was lost in an Engrish translation.

    The dev team were huge fans of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

    So if R4 meant Revolution for DS then it begs the question what does M3 mean?

    My 3 Bitches (the porn sequel to Three's Company). Getting an M3 made you pimp-tastic.

    Whenever I read stuff about the M3 flashcart, I always thought about the BMW M3.

    N5 was original called N-Card, N5 is the 5th generation of their chipset.. (although its not a Official N-Card, its a Clone) N-Card was short for NAND CARD
    DSTT = DS Top Toy
    M3 = GBA Movie Player version 3
