Get real, you're the one who is not understanding my post.

I'm not pushing any moral values on anybody, I just stated that I don't think that people who pirate games are innocent. It's not my fault that you feel offended by this.

Anyway, I've bricked a couple of systems on my own by purchasing products, but I also do not feel sorry for myself nor do I think I'm an innocent client.

At the end of the day Gateway played it very smart, but it backed fired a little, I would probably have done the same thing as them if I were in the same position. I support them for doing it, not because it punishes people who aren't innocent to begin with but because it makes sense for a business point of view.

Maybe you could do everyone else a favor and not reply to my post, that way this thread won't derail. :)
on it.

I enjoy darker beer

its quite simple in the world some people will not pay for anything they can......even if they wait and wait for it.....eventually they get it 100% free and feel smug at all the people who got it ages ago, these are either referred to as extreme cheap asses, although they would prefer to pretend its because they have morals or something, because errrm well im sure someone else can make a vaguely viable excuse....but it all boils down to being cheap

lets just stick to I wont support a company who makes flash card, i also wont support a company who develops games, i wont make a donation to someone who releases hacks because i don't support hacking..........just give me free games and stfu im counting my money
Ha emulators...they still don't work quite the same way as the actual console.

Anyway, brick code is no issue at all, I see it as a satire on some company which tries to brick its own consoles.

If clones didn't copy Gateway's code then clones wouldn't get bricked. The punishing part is not Gateway's fault if cloners just created their own code. And now atleast people KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that cloners just copy Gateway's code verbatim without even knowing what it does.

See MT card for example, where people still doubt this.

And if there were no clones, then where would not be bricking code. Think about that.
If there were no clones, there would still be bricking code and all other sorts of stuff simply to prevent people patching the loader to load stuff from the SD card instead of the Gateway cart itself. If that happened there would literally be no reason to buy a Gateway, which would be far worse for them than a slightly cheaper clone card. It wouldn't surprise me if that is actually the main reason why the brick code is in there, considering it triggers if the launcher has been modified.

No, I do not think that people who pirate games are innocent.
If I purchase a hand-gun that I am about to use to kill several humans, I'd expect the bullet to exit out of the front of the gun. It doesn't really matter what my purpose is. I am still a client and my bullet shouldn't go towards me.
As a client, I am innocent.

That would be one hell of a gun

We just view it differently, I don't think that clients who buy guns with the intention to shoot people are innocent.

As per definition of the word innocent, according to http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/innocent: 'not involving evil intent or motive'

So if your intention is to use that gun to shoot people, you are not an innocent customer, simply because you have evil intent or motive.

The internet is brutal eh? Hahaha! It's like every CNN article ever. No matter what the story, it goes from CNN-bashing to politics, to religion haha! SO! Back on topic.

Gateway. They're not bricking carts anymore. WHOO!

Bricking the clone cart would have been the best scenario for Gateway, but perhaps they couldn't do it? Maybe the only "protection" they were able to achieve was to brick consoles? Lacking in the moral department, sure, but who needs moral in the flashcart business?

As for people buying clone carts being innocent or not, I think if the customer was able to get all the information about the clone flashcart in the first place (what 3ds firmware it works on, where to buy it, how to install the kernel, etc.) then surely with just a few more mouse clicks, he could have figured out it was a clone cart of the original Gateway. Seriously, I think most clone cart buyers knew perfectly well they were buying the clone, and not the original. They just wanted to save the $20 and felt very smart for doing so. People really not knowing anything would have bought it from a physical mom and pop's shop selling grey market stuff. But then, if you buy something of this shady nature, won't you get some information from the internet before you start using it? Which brings it back to the first point, they should know it's a clone.

i would say most knew it was a clone, there was a group of them on here who used to go around saying "hahaha we get gateways features and you payed full price you idiots"one of worst for it is now using a gateway card and the rest just dissapeared(or at least went very quiet about their oh so amazing card).......so all in all gateway got what they wanted ruined the cloners rep and made the clone buyer get a gateway card

i think gateway would of just bricked the cards if it was possible, but the clones have learnt not to have their cards update features tied to the console where the original creators can issue the brick command .....hence MT having a usb update method instead to protect themselves from attack....its unfortunate but it at least showed the cloners gateway wasn't going to piss about with cat and mouse games

Sorry but i'm just not paying THAT much for a frigging flashcard that will undoubtedly be rendered useless later no much how they innovate.

o.O How do you figure? It currently plays every game released for the 3DS. While future releases may not work on the GW and for the sake of argument let's say GW can't fix it, the games that work now will still work. So one will still be able to play a sizable library of (region free) games and now homebrew. Yeah, it'll be come worthless in the future alright. <eyeroll>

Bricking or no bricking.... Dat Gateway tho.... There is no free SD card loader or noob friendly homebrew enabler at this moment in time. Buy one and get over it. If you can't, well you've got a long wait ahead of you......

An evil killer yet an innocent customer. I seek no evil for my buyer and its not of your business about how I will use the handgun.

Except the bricking code was not designed to do any harm to genuine users - it was a malfunction that was since corrected. Every one million guns there's going to be this one handgun that malfunctions and shoots you in the thigh when it's in the holster and there's nothing you can do about that - it's just a malfunction.

Anywho, this subject has been extensively discussed in the Flashcart Safety F.A.Q, so I direct everyone who wants to continue the conversation there instead of making new threads about the same issue.
