Whitehole is a level editor for Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.

Latest version released is v1.0.

Whitehole requires Java JRE7 to work correctly. To run Whitehole, you can open a console/terminal and type: java -jar whitehole.jar
Alternately, for Windows users who find command-line unnatural, there's a launcher included (Whitehole.exe). Or with a proper Java install, doubleclicking the jar is also a possibility.

Whitehole also requires that you extract all the folders and files from a SMG1/2 ISO. Current versions only require the ObjectData and StageData folders, but who knows, it's better to have everything extracted.

You are entirely on your own for obtaining a SMG1/2 ISO.

How to use the thing
Hopefully it should be intuitive enough. If not, you can read the readme or this thread for more information.

You can also watch this video to see a bit of how Whitehole works.

Credits
* Mega-Mario -- duh
* Dirbaio -- really helpful programming help
* Treeki -- stuff about BCSV files

Enjoy :)

Whoa. the only question i have is how is the camera handled?

That's pretty impressive. Is it actually possible to edit worlds and/or gravity data or just add and remove smaller objects? Also, it seems like a pain to create stuff on the small round planets. You'd have to make sure everything is rotated and placed correctly.

Making newly placed objects be rotated in relation to the closest planet could be done. But then what about flat planets and such? Oh well, guess I should really start looking into gravity data. That'll tell better than anything else.

"Is it actually possible to edit worlds and/or gravity data or just add and remove smaller objects?"
I kinda hate that kind of questions. JUST TRY IT OUT AND YOU'LL SEE. Anyway it only supports editing/adding/removing objects and such for now. But later on it'll support modifying more stuff :)

Gah, I should have updated this thread earlier.

A hotfix has been released for Whitehole, it fixes a potentially bad random issue with saving.

Oh by the way, Kuribo64 may start hosting the SMG2.5 project. I believe this will have a positive effect on the project but also on the whole SMG scene.
