Hacking White screen gs lite

I have a g6 lite. I have not used it in about a year. Recently I starting playing with it again. The roms that I had on it played fine. I erased them and loaded some new ones. They all gave me the white screen. I updated the software and U-disk manager. Reloaded the roms. White screen again. Even the old roms from before all go to the white screen. Is there something I have forgotten to do over the last year? A certain way to patch or load?
