I'm looking on playing downloaded games on my original fat DS but I have no clue what I'm doing, is there any good guides on how to pick a flash cart thing and where to go from there

Here's a good place to start http://gbatemp.net/threads/which-flash-cart-should-i-get.290097/

EDIT: When you have your cart you will need to download the kernel for it from the website associated with the cart.

Then put the firmware and roms back-ups on your microSD, you're then good to go.

So if I'm reading it correctly my DS(original) should be compatible with any of them, is there a online store that is good for these kind of things or should i just google around

Yes your DS will be able to use any of those, as for an online store, i hear RealHotStuff is a trusted seller.

My advice would be to to give the R4's a wide berth, they'll end up giving you too much grief.
damn was hoping to get that because its the only site I've found that accepts paypal but they don't have a huge selection

ok thanks alot for all the help :)

1 last thing, when it gets here do i just drag the files on and play or is there a special process for that

Yup just drag and drop the files, don't forget you will need Winrar to unpack the compressed files.

1 - This is why we have stickies.

(And the "which flash cart thread" you already got linked to.)

2 - Paypal is not a bank and doesn't have to follow the same laws about being fair, so they can take bribes and shit, Nintendo tells them to close the accounts of stores that sell flash carts and they do, which not only stops the site from using paypal, it also takes away all the money the site had in the paypal account.

3 - Most R4s are clones (there's only ONE original and it's just "R4" with no SDHC support), and most of the clones have crap for support, but support is how carts survive system updates and play new games, so 9/10 flash carts are shit and you shouldn't buy them due to lack of support (or a tendency to drop support after a few months, making you buy a new model).
