Yeah i'd rather be in their "walled garden" then play with hackers left right and center on PC.

So goodluck.

Oh the hacker boogeymen, I bet their Russian /s. Never have I ever seen any systemic cheating and any isolated incidents that didn't result in someone being blocked or removed one way or another. Paying for less features, support and options available on PC is silly, grown ups and the technically literate don't require a babysitter and sure as hell not going to pay for one.

And mind you I used to pay $5 an hour back in the day for online gaming. Well spent that was real employee engagement that ran events, tournaments & content. It was a precursor MMO, Clerics had an ability where they could summon a deity and when they did so it was an actual GM controlling the character.

Good times. I'll happily pay for a premium experience, a pay wall that has no technical purpose is bullshit. Praying to Pepe daily the entire console cartel dies off as it should have in the 90s. It's about as pointless as the exclusivity of HDVD and Blu-ray, glad that shit didn't last long.

Never, weak-hardware, standard first party games.

Only game is BOTW & id never spend £300 on a console for one game. It's not like the PS3, I had that on launch in the U.K. Motor storm & resistance. Best at the time, but we also had the 360, which I also had. Cracking games. Just like now, Xbox one and ps4 have a great library so far, I don't know why anyone would buy a switch right now. Weak library, old hardware and the library that will drive the console is first party only. Respawn said, would titanfall 2 ever come to the switch, their response was "f**k no!!". The hardware is just far too weak, it's not like back in the day, the wii was completely different, compared to 360 and PS3. If you want a portable console now, you might as well just buy an iPad. At least it has a far better library, indie and proper classics like GTA 3 all the way to San Andreas.

Personally i got a switch early on, updated to 2.0.0 and disconnected the switch from the net.
I know the library is not great but Zelda has never interested me anyway, Hope for a few gems to come out of E3 this summer,
Got it slightly cheaper cause i opted not to take 1 2 switch,
after reading online i could see how quick it was selling out and how much prices were jumping up for the console so i knew if i wanted to sell it on i could make money back easy.
i know homebrew isnt really an option right now but progress has been made and im on the right firmware when the time does come,
so right now my little switch is an investment even if it did set me back a few quid. Im just going to sit and wait quietly till a game i like comes along.

Was going to get one until they announced pay-2-play online. Automatic deal-breaker. I skipped all XBOXs and PS4 strictly for that reason.
If they get rid of that and come out with more games, I'll consider it.
It's only $20/yr though. I think it's very reasonably priced, and I don't mind paying for it IF it means their servers are actually decent so that there aren't constant connection problems and lag. Their previous systems were plagued with online lag.

An iPad is not a replacement for a proper game console. No dedicated controls, 99.9% of the games are trash and most of the last 0.1% is just ports of old games.
If you prefer those kind of games then that's fine, but the whole reason dedicated game consoles still exist is because the games on them are simply better.

Just because dedicated games consoles exist, doesn't mean it will hold a great library. The VITA as an example. Before you say, if you want old games and JRPG games, that it is the go to device.. But other than that, it isn't. The switch is the exact same. If you don't want new games to try and push the hardware, like the new red dead redemption, or mass effect. then buy a switch, if you want to play proper full AAA games (and I don't just mean AAA branded games like Mario). Then get a PS4 or Xbox one.

In what world is Breath of the Wild not a proper full AAA game?

Even though by definition it is a AAA game, it doesn't match their opinion of what a AAA is and thus isn't a AAA game. Because that's apparently how the world works now. If it doesn't fit your personal opinion of how it is, then it isn't

Even $1 is not reasonably priced. It should be free. Read some of jimbo's posts, he explains it better than I do. Paying Nintendo for online is a scam, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You are literally paying them for nothing. They have nothing to do with connection problems and lag. That's all based on your network settings, internet connection, and distance from the people you are playing with. I don't have any sources for this, but I'm willing to bet money that the reason some people complained about Nintendo's online was because the majority of players weren't the type of people to have high speed internet connections (e.g. children who got a Wii or Wii U as a gift and their parents don't know anything about technology). If you played someone locally that you knew and they had good internet, there were never any problems.
EA and Activision, some of the two biggest names, use their own servers or some hybrid of their stuff and p2p matchmaking. Microsoft and Sony have absolutely no input. If you were to pay a fee to them directly instead of Microsoft/Sony if you wanted to play CoD/Battlefield, I'd have less of an issue, because dedicated servers actually cost money. But in the current generation, Sony, Microsoft, and now Nintendo are getting paid for providing nothing.

Edit: One example that somewhat works is FFXIV (although expensive). You don't need PS+ to play it. You just need to pay the subscription to Square Enix directly.

I'm done with buying Nintendo consoles so I probably wont be getting the Switch, only reason is Nintendo don't do anything about online cheaters. I'm done shelling out good money only to have my gaming experience ruined by a 15 year old with a hacked console.

When I'm confident that it's not gonna fail like the Wii U. The only game I'm even remotely interested in is Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Only console I've skipped since the PS1 has been the PS3 and I was lucky enough to get the Switch as a gift so I was very happy.

That being said I wouldn't have bought one for about 18/24 months as I hate launch lineups and game prices for new consoles. After a couple of years price of games goes right down, library is nice and fleshed out and older games are dirt cheap pre-owned.

It's likely that my Switch may get put away for a good while once I've finished Zelda until some time has past.
