Hacking when can i install bootmii without worries

2 main things are keeping me away from using bootmii.
1. it cannot be uninstalled.
2. doesn't work with wiimote.

so i guess i am waiting for a non-beta official release.. any news on that?

Install BootMii NOW!!!!
The only danger is not having it!

You need to have a NAND backup incase you brick you're Wii and BootMii to reinstall it/ fix you're Wii..
You can use a Game Cube controler or the Power, Reset and Eject buttons on the Wii to control it.

HackMii 0.2 is out now and I'm veary happy with it, It installs the new HomeBrew Channel, DVDx and BootMii 0.2.

Bootmii can, indeed, be unistalled; and they've stated that wiimote functionality is highly unlikely. Install it right NOW!

It can be uninstalled. You can edit the config file to auto load to the Wii System menu in ~2-3 seconds so no button presses are necessary. Both of your reasons for not installing are no longer problems.

Run the same installer/uninstaller. Once bootmii is installed the option will change to Uninstall Bootmii (or some similar variation.

ok so i went to bootmii.org and there is no standalone bootmii? do i have to install it with dvdx and homebrew channel?
i already have hc but not sure of the version and i don't need dvdx.

It uses the same installer, but you can choose to install bootmii only (dont' forget to prepare the sd card!)

Yes, you download the hackmii installer .02 on bootmii.org. There is no requirement to install DVDx or the HBC if you already have them on your Wii. They are simply available options to streamline to process on a completely unhacked Wii.

EDIT: You don't actually need to prepare the SD any more. It just has to be a compatible file system format (FAT16 I think but check the bootmii FAQ). The new version will accept fragmented cards.

ok when i unzipped it, there are 4 files...
installer.elf, credits, license, readme.
do i just rename installer.elf to boot.elf then place it in app folder and run it?

YUP!, Rename installer.elf to Boot.elf

You can delete the other three..

When you start it it will tell what can be installed just hit next then install BootMii 0.2 to Boot2 if you can,..
You'll have more protection with it installed on Boot2..

You might want to install HomeBrew Channel as well scene it the newest version.

When its all done installing BootMii "only takes a minute or less" exit out...
Then turn off the Wii and make around 600mb of free room on you're SD Card..
"DO NOT DELEATE THE BootMii folder in the root of the SD Card."

Turn on the Wii and you'll see BootMii use the Power button to move to the 4th option "looks like Cogs" and select the Nand back up "Green arrow pointing to SD Card" Use the reset button to select it..

After that you're Wii is much safer as long as you never lose/ delete the NAND File...
So save the Nand File to you're PC and or a Disc.

tried to install it but says boot1 prevents it from install and i must install it as ios.
i just turn it off.
i guess i have to stick to preloader.

I think installing it as a IOS or Boot1 is still good and you might be able to get that sweet NAND backup...???
I was able to install it to boot2 so I'm not 100% sure.

I think Pre Loader is good too I have both Installed to my Wii..

i got my wii in dec 2007 and i still can't install it as boot2.

Sounds to me like your Wii is a bullshit. Bootmii is doing the best it can, it's not BootMii's fault it won't install. And it is only in Beta, perhaps they can get it installing on more Wiis in the future.

Does the Boot.elf go into the root of the SD card or in the apps folder. After its installed, do you have to keep that file? I have a boot.dol in my sd root, does the installer.elf really need to be renamed to boot.dol ?
