I have a Switch running firmware 5.1.0 and SX OS. I need to update to use a peripheral I purchased and I am wondering if there is a “golden” or recommended firmware to update to. I’ve seen some complaints regarding 10.0.x firmwares, but I am not sure if they are unfounded or legitimate.

Thanks for any assistance!

Newest firmware will always run the most games. Unless there's specific older homebrew you want to run and can't wait for it to be updated, I'd say go latest firmware. You won't be able to run devmenu for now but that's rarely really needed.

I always run latest a week or two after it is released. Even nintendo allows you to online on OFWwith old firmware after a new version is released. This way you get the update when games start to require it and when your CFW already supports the last update.
