In 2002 I got a pre modded xbox with 120gb hdd, just discoverd usenet and torrent sites, playing CounterStrike 1.6 with my friends (LAN party). At the ti,e there was great trance music, L' Amour Toujours by Gigi D'Agostino that was a big hit at the time.
Back then I use A Sony MZ-N707 MiniDisc recorder, that was my last physical muisc player. The next year i got my first mp3 player. Played many games at time.

2002 ehh.... my youngest lad would've been just a few months old, and whilst the eldest was an easy baby, the youngest was fukkin feral... so yeah 2002 was the time I went to my local GP and asked her if I could have a hysterectomy. But do bear in mind that I'm actually a fella..... the wife couldn't get out of that place quick enough...

I was in high school at the time. So many things to remember.
  • You needed an invite from an existing user to get a gmail account. Begging for invites was undignified, but once you were in, you were in. Gmail accounts looked the most professional back then.
  • People were using KaZaA/LimeWire to get music and assorted content. I appreciate those stories, though some end with the computer being unsalvagable.
  • Getting a CD Burner was the big thing. With one of those, you could actually back up your data. (1.4 MB vs. 650 MB was a huge difference.)
  • Kids were starting to talk about the Dreamcast. Even my English/Literature teacher- in his 20's, at the time- told us about his reaction to the snake in Resident Evil.
  • I didn't have cable, so anime was still a rareity. Kids didn't really talk about Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z much, but the viewership was there. Plus, Cowboy Bebop had premiered on Adult Swim somewhere in 2001.
  • Noteworthy video games of 2002: Super Mario Sunshine, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Resident Evil (GameCube Remake), Panzer Dragoon Orta, Ratchet & Clank, Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion, Mafia, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Dark Cloud 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, TimeSplitters 2, Splinter Cell, and Jet Set Radio Future.
  • Website building in standard HTML was a big deal. The more Javascript the big sites could cram in, the "better" (slower to load, more likely to have malware). Making fancy stuff (games, animations, news highlight images) in Macromedia Flash was a sign of skill and money.
  • The first adblockers were coming out during that general time as a response to all the malware that could come through a banner ad. If you saw the content of the ad rectangle load in as a separate webpage, you knew you were in trouble: iframes, javascript, flash, all sorts of stuff hid in those banners.
That's all I can think of.

Of all the years to ask!

Well, that was when I first took taekwondo; I was awful at it; the worst one!

Funny how that changed to the other extreme, twenty-three years later. I've long since not bothered with Pro Boxing champions, etc. anymore due to a lack of challenge from them.

It was also the year I got my first two metroid games; Fusion and Prime.

I played super metroid and nes metroid before, but I saw fans saying that there have been no new games in a very long time, so I got fusion. Then I heard unlockables were in Prime, so I got that as a side note. Turns out I liked Prime far more.

And finally, that was the year I moved to Texas. It was a different place back then.
