Gaming What was this preorder nonsense ?

A few days after the premiere, I just walked into a shop and bought one. They had plenty in stock. Western Europe, capital city.

Exactly, last thing you would want is another wii fiasco, not being able to purchase the console for weeks or months.
So you preorder the console for best possible chance of getting one at launch.

Fortunately it seems there is enough to go around so those who didn't preorder still have a very good chance of simply walking into a store and buying one.

I usually don`t preorder games/consol as well, since I also find them easily in any store, but I preordered the 3DS at Amazon and I got it for 222€ + a game!!!

So sometime you get goodies with the game that makes it worth or you`ll get the game shipped to your home, which is quite nice as well

Got mine for £182 delivered ( arrived a day early

) came with screen protectors, two extra styluses, and a game case.

Also bought a very nice red aluminium shell from Dealextreme for $5

Purchased Lego star wars and splinter cell separately.

Nintendo had more than enough to meet demand for once, unlike the Wii or DS.. this leads people to believe the 3DS is not doing well in sales.

Actually, I heard that they were still having shortages in the U.K. after 1 and a half years.

I preordered the system and ssf4 from amazon and got credit for $35 off another 3ds game. So I think it was worth it. 35 free dollars just for waiting a few extra days!

I preordered so I could get mine cheap, got mine for about 182 pounds with SSFIV free. couldn't do that now.

Well, when I first read about the launch units being limited I thought it would be a big issue, and people will be selling it at deadly price on ebay.
But it seems the total opposite.
Ebay powersellers are selling with with up to 29% discount o.o.

I wouldn't know for sure, I didn't bother getting a wii until sometime last year.
