My budget is in the ~ $300 - $400 range, I just ordered a Moto X Pure ($300), but I think I may regret it.
It's a nice phone but looking at the CPU and GPU, it looks a little underpowered. I think I might go for a Galaxy S6 ($350) instead and cancel the order on the Moto. Should I do it or stick with the Moto.
I'm on Metro PCS which rides on T-Mobile.

I say stick with the Moto, pure android is better that yucky TouchWiz. I'd be willing to bet is Samsungs have touchwiz it'd be hella fast

Moto X Pure if you're just a normal consumer who doesn't care too much about Rooting/Custom Roms. It a great phone overall, but it wouldn't work for me. This would be good for those who just want a phone that has decent specs overall that can call, text, video chat and playback music well.

Galaxy S6 all the way if you're a poweruser and love customization. The Galaxy S(x) lines have always been a good target for devs to come and make Custom Roms that all have unique features for it.

Then again, this is coming from a biased base opinion.

Go for the OnePlus 3.
If you can pitch in another $40, you can get the OnePlus 3T. It's faster than the Pixel and it costs significantly less. The custom rom community is also fairly strong for this phone.

The great part? You're not charged tax, so $440 means $440.

I was originally going to get the 2 because it was in my budget, but no NFC. One plus does make beautiful phones and they're highly customizable out of the box, but that's too much money unfortunately :/

Aren't Galaxy's hard to root because it trips KNOX or something? I had Grand Prime and the support was terrible for it when I had it, and it bricked upon anything that I tried, then I got the G4 stylus which ended up perma bricking, so I'm tired of getting cheap budget phones with limited support. One of my good friends has the Moto X and he recommended me it because it's one of the first phones to get updates.
Also, one of the things I care for is a stock experience. I absolutely hate ugly UIs that manufactures try puking into the stock ROM.

I've never had any issues with installing Custom Roms or rooting Samsung Devices. Rooting Galaxy's are semi-difficult, but it's not that bad. AFAIK, rooting will trip KNOX if you use certain tools that do so, there are many root methods that don't trip KNOX.

Also UI isn't that huge of an issue tbh. You could just always get a launcher off the Play Store or better yet a Custom Rom (which most usually replace the TouchWiz UI)

It's tempting, but I also have to dump ~ $50 to get my laptop repaired, so I think $50 less for a slightly less powered stock (out of the box ;) ) Android experience. The CPU/GPU doesn't matter that much, because what do we have for Android gaming that requires you to have Galaxy S7 specs? I just want a phone that doesn't lag, and could play Fallout Shelter, Minecraft PE, Clash and some racing games on the go without any studdering.
Although, Dolphin Emulation might be cool. Can't it run pretty decent on the S6? I'll think about it overnight, but when I buy the S6, metro PCS has 'upgrade fees' + taxes that'll rack up the grand total of the phone to $380+ which is cutting pretty darn close. Only thing wrong with the Moto X is itll take 2 days to ship, so the anticipation might kill me :p

The heart wants what the heart wants. Think about it over some sleep and you'll come to a decision.
