Hacking What is the current preferred method on 5.5.1

Just got a wii u last night and it is on 5.5.1. From what I am reading, it is preferable to use 5.5.1, but also on haxchi it says I need to go buy a game. So, do I need to update to 5.5.2 so that I can get into the store and buy a game or is it better to use the browser method? Just trying to figure out the best starting point before I do anything. I want to use haxchi after all is said and done, and I also wasn't sure if I use another method first, will I still be able to change to haxchi later on?

using the browser method, boot the homebrew launcher. then, use nnu patcher to access the eshop and buy the game.
