Hacking What is frankenfirmware?

i know this is a noob question but i have been seeing things on gbatemp about how to fix frankenfirmware. what exactly is this?

Basically firmware that is parts of different firmware versions. This normally happens when a user tries to downgrade. Though their system will say 9.2 or whatever part of it will still have system titles from 11.2 or whatever firmware they were on before. This casues issues as certain features will not work as expected. Best way to correct is to go into recovery mode and download the latest version form nintendo's server.

Seriously, this question has been asked and answered many, many times.

It's not like frankenfirmware is a common word, you won't have pages and pages of posts to sift through. It's pure laziness.
