What happened to the "Preferred Posts" thing?

I thought it was a really cool and useful forum feature.

1.) Why was it given to us, just to be removed shortly after implementation?

2.) Will it ever be brought back?

1) Obviously because Costello and co are trying to spite you. But in all seriousness, I believe the main reason is that it resulted in the forums becoming really really slow for a significant number of people. This also caused the number of accidental repeat posts to increase, though one might argue that some of the blame did lie in the poster being a wee bit impatient and what not. I'm also going to assume that it may have been used suboptimally or even abused for more e-peen wagging.

Apparently it caused server slowdowns so it was removed.

Ah. Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't have any luck tracking down the original thread to find out what had happened.

I don't think they made any official announcement when they took it down. I just so happened to be lurking around and saw a few reports of what happened
