So I understand there is the M3i Zero, Then there is the M3i Zero "GMP-z003".

What is the major difference in these that make them incompatible with certain firmware, I'm guessing hardware, but why were the two different M3i Zero's created?

It's like printing books - when you run out of the first print, you do second reprinting. M3i GMP-003 is the third "reprint" of M3i, though I don't know why unlike the first two it has problems with YSM3 and other unofficial firmwares. I guess they implemented it intentionally?

If they implemented it intentionally then they're pretty stupid lol. Considering after all they don't really "support" it any more.

May be cost cutting? or the old version has problem with some microSD like "no sleep mode when close lid"

So, they change some hardware (GMP-003) and the result make uncompetible with 3rd firmware.

I think GMP-003 is not a bad card, Just currently no one hack it.

lol.

M3 team changed the hardware to block any non-M3-software. That's not a reprint. That's a downgrade.

It's as simple as that.

If you have a 003, you can throw that linker away, since M3 "lost their source code" a few months ago and YSMenu /Wood won't work.

It is a "reprint". Or, as I remembered the correct word, it's the third batch. Albeit with some "minor" hardware differences. And yes, even new batches/editions/reprints can change like the xxxholic manga, where only the first edition had colour inserts at the beginning of each volume. So although the third batch of M3i contains the blocking thing, on the other hand I think they fixed the sleep mode issue like kraijeck says. So they didn't add just negative things, and even if you would call it a downgrade, it is still a new reprint/batch.

@Flametail1: The third batch came out when they were still active.

So then it wasn't too long ago that they were active?

Also I still have a sleep mode issue on my DS using this flashcart.
