I started doing everything on the arm9loaderhax guide (https://3ds.guide/) but then it said putting something in "files9" folder, and I don't have that on my sd card, I searched everywhere.

What exactly is it and how do you get it?

    1. Create a folder named files9 on the root of your SD card if it does not already exist

Oh, so you just create it yourself? It also says back up the file is you have it, if i create it myself it won't have anything in it so there's no point in backing it up...?

If you don't have anything in there then you don't need to back it up but further into the guide there will be important files in there, and so you will need to back it up.

If you forgot to do that earlier and have since made NAND backups/etc, they are probably in the root of the SD card.

I've never used any custom firmware.

They meant if you continued on with the guide and skipped that step, files are likely not where they are meant to be. If you are still at the start of the guide you should be fine.
