If you have a phat ps2, a network adapter, and an IDE HDD that fits, you are only short one object:

*PS1 Disc. Any disc, doesn't matter.

After you acquire that last piece, google "PS2 memory card exploit"

yeah there is but you have to know what are you doing to mod your ps2 slim for that

You need some way of getting the Independence exploit onto your memory card - so yes, an Action Replay is one way to do it. Google PS2 softmod and you'll find instructions.

It's true, you have to open your PS2 and do some crazy soldering work for it to work. It doesn't really seem worth it.

How is that quick? , you still have to do all the soldering , you just get a case so you don't have a hdd just hanging off the ps2.
