Manjaro GNOME
I also have Windows 10 Pro and macOS Big Sur on other drives in the system. Need every one installed for different reasons so I'm fortunate enough to have a single system that can do all of them without too much fuss.

I namely stick to Linux Mint and Lubuntu, because they're very Windows-like in their layouts and ease of use. Not to mention having Ubuntu compatibility is a huge plus in case I run into issues or need software.

Back on Linux Mint. I ventured into KDE neon from November to December. It wasn't a bad experience but I did notice some problems with KDE and Nvidia drivers. I've noticed this issue before with KDE and I think it's because of Wayland but I am not sure. I am also not willing to fix any issues like that because this laptop really isn't meant for tinkering, I have like 6 other computers for that.

I've used ParrotOS and Elementary Os (Very underrated I think you should check it out!)
I love Elementary but I don't like that there's still no official upgrade path between versions.

Linux Mint for me. I like the Windows-ish distro. It also has many features other distros lack, like right-clicking a folder and opening it as root is hella convenient.
tbf that's not a "distro" thing, it's a file manager thing, linux isn't like windows where the file manager is locked to the os itself, you can install other file managers

Kubuntu. I like how it looks like Windows. I first used Ubuntu before. I thought of trying Linux Mint, but I'm too lazy to have to reinstall, and re-download and set up everything. :P

I love Mint, but as of the v20.x releases, I can't seem to get it to install the Nvidia closed-source drivers for my GTX 1060. It pretends to install them, but it fails at building the DKMS kernel modules, and I reboot into a 320x240 nightmare I can hardly navigate to get back to the open-source driver.

Honestly, yeah. I use Linux Mint mainly because it's based on Ubuntu (for the reasons that you said) and it's Cinnamon desktop environment, which I prefer as a beginner.

I would like to try some arch based distros sometime like Manjaro but I always go back and forth on if I should really master and understand Ubuntu based distros fully (mainly on knowing to a good extent on terminal commands) before moving on.

For now at least I'm pretty comfortable with Linux Mint as it stands with duel-booting on my laptop with Windows, maybe I could do some reflection on whether using it as a daily driver is a good idea for me or not.

I've been a Mint user since 3.1 (Celena) and I love it. I even got Mint 5 named Elyssa, so that's my cool contribution to the project. ^_^
