Well why not homebrew it, find out what you can put in and then pass it down to a little brother or friend. I handed my little bro his first PC to get him into PC gaming because I disliked the fact that he spends over $60 per game and only has a handful for the Xdung. I had a Dell Optiplex 330 stored in the closet, it was basically useless to me, had a ATI Radeon 260 and I got him a handful of games he chose from this previous winter sale on Steam such as Age of Empires 3,PvZ GOTY, Dead Island, L4Dead series, Portal series, and Half-Life 2 (the only one he didn't quite enjoy and I don't blame him, I hadn't played that game in ages myself that I kinda remembered it being more fun when I young). We now game like keyboard potatoes and he uses his console fairly less than ever. I also got him into emulation and had a good experience over all. I knew that telling him "This is now yours" felt a little offsetting because muh memories but after we cleaned it up and optimized it we had a good experience. Now I know this has nothing to do with a PSP or homebrew but I thought I might share with you my experience handing down good electronics.

It's a shame I find myself in the same dilemma as you but with my new 3ds xl. Can't get a pinch of entertainment out of it, I have played lots of fucking games since 2011 and I honestly think there will never be another good title on it.
Dude, i had a fucking blast with my psp back in 2009 when i got it. These newer "bigger" games fucked my mind big time.
Btw, i forgot to mention some PSP Games, since the library its huge, and all depends on your taste here are some of my top gaames that i really enjoyed: Megaman Maverick Hunter X N+ Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone Most Wanted Loco Roco Ys The Ark Of Naphistim Give them a try!
I owned two psp consoles. The first one was a fat model, 10XX which got it in 2011, lasted like a year or so and then i sold it to a friend because... psp, you know. Then I bought a 3000 model back in 2014, and it happened the same fucking thing, I owned it for about a year or so and then I sold it because I didn't do shit with it, by far it was the worst portable I ever had. Though it had very good remakes like FFIV. — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! — Btw the only games I played were: - MM: Maverick Hunter X - Mega Man Powered Up - Final Fantasy IV - Final Fantasy I - Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (Best game on the console by far) - Darius Burst - Dissidia Final Fantasy (Just a bit) Aaaaaand a bunch of ps1 classics.
well you can buy a psp component or composite cords for psp (2000/3000) and be able to play that on a bigger screen
Play games you haven't played. There's tons of it, I hardly doubt you've played most of it. Completely play all the top 100 PSP games. Donate it to someone or sell it. Up to you.
Theres also this old homebrew, Smashgp / Smashgpsp , I play from time to time, https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/resources/smashgp-full-pack.4548/ I use it on ppsspp, but it should work on an actual psp. I know its shitty but I had fun playing it back on my 1.50 psp 1000 a long time ago. Made some stages and edited some stuff back in 2016. I was gonna make more stuff via an update, but I lost interest completely lol. I have uploaded here the last edit of Smashgp I did, it was gonna have more chars, stages, etc. I also included the editing programs to make the custom chars and stages and the source code in case maybe someone could port it to 3DS, now that would be cool!
Some games I've always gotten a kick out of that you might have not played since I play obscure shit (Bold is my top recommendation): Puyo Puyo 7/20th Anniversary (If you don't know how to play, you might be better off learning online or playing them emulated ['specially on Wii], there are fanslations as a nds hack and YT videos but the portability is great) Half Minute Hero (really goddamn fun) Riviera: The Promised Land (I didn't actually go through this port as I played the GBA version, there's good and bads with it but mostly good) Yggdra Union (was mentioned, same devs as Riviera, card game fire emblem, very good) Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (Avoid if you don't like traditional platformers, this one might be a pain in the ass and you might not enjoy the replayability) Super Robot Wars Z2.1/Z2.2 (Might be hard to get into the series - you can start from anywhere but there's no story translation for them, only UI. Also, you might only really enjoy it if you're into mecha. Still fun for some stupid reason.) Zettai Hero Project: Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman (mystery-dungeon like srpg, great plot and gameplay) Disgaea 1/2 (Both are on PC now, might be better off with those [But 2 is still very relevant in terms of features]) Phantom Brave (EEHHHHH port, one of my favorite games of all-time but you're better off on Wii/PC) Every Extend Extra (bordering as being somewhat boring imo, it's an original arcade game but something's eh about it) Corpse Party (it wasn't bad i guess but it was always a downer) Summon Night 5 (Currently playing/new to but I find like i have a few gripes with things like localization and tutorial-dumping) Sol Trigger (translation patch needed, but it's incomplete. Story seems to be slow for the first few chapters) Jeanne D'arc [SRPG] Trails in the Sky [JRPG] Unchained Blades (slow for me so far) La Pucelle: Ragnarok (The patch is full-width, you might as well play the ancient original or something) Phantom Kingdom (Same with above, I love nippon ichi but the unofficial PSP translations feel awkward, this one also doesn't seem to have much story) There's lastly shit like persona and other games that I haven't myself touched. You can always go on :cough cough: websites and browse there for more, I suppose? P.S.: I bought my PSP with its Joystick ripped off, so these are all playable with just the dpad if that remotely matters to you.
It's really only good for one thing: Playing games. Guess I'll just share my collection: Code: MasterBoy v2.10 + Donkey Kong Country, Kakurenbo Battle Monster Tactics, Kwirk, Pokemon Prism, Space Harrier, Streets of Rage II, Survival Kids, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap. PSP Revolution 0.4 TempGBA mod + Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure, Grand Theft Auto Advance, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Moemon Emerald, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames! Fate/EXTRA Little Busters! CE Persona3 Portable Tekken 6 Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V Tag Force Special Atari Classics Evolved Metal Slug Anthology Sega Genesis Collection Space Invaders Extreme Road Rash - Jailbreak Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Half-Minute Hero OMGZ Super Stardust Portable Burnout Dominator CRUSH Patapon 2 I also use a few homebrew apps and plugins, which I'll refrain from listing unless requested or something. In the end, the PSP is still one of the best portable gaming machines today!
