Hardware Weird metal thing on remote?

I just bought a Wii at eBay, and the wiimote comes with this weird metal thing on the nunchuck port.. help?

It does look like the metal surround on a nunchuck or other accessory has come off and got lodged in there

Mystery solved - You should be able to get it out if your careful with some pliers

Wow. How does that happen? The MotionPlus adapter seemed a bit cheap but at least the connector on it seemed to be pretty robust. You would have to tear pretty hard to make it break off like that.
Maybe they didn't know to press the little switch to unlock it before removing?
