Gaming Weird DSI XL after image

I have a DSI and a DSI XL console and I've noticed something weird with the XL and wondered if anyone else has noticed this...

After playing a game for a short while, for example Mario Kart which has the player positions and time displayed on the bottom screen... After exiting the game whenever I short press the power button the screen turns white and very briefly shows the image from the game and then goes back to the menu. This is really weird because it continues to show the in game screen whenever I reset even after the game had been removed and after the console has been turned off...

Anyone else seen this behaviour? Doesn't happen on my standard DSI.

Interesting. I also noticed that the timer in Mario Kart that flashes white and black really quickly as the numbers change kind of leaves those pixels "twinkling" afterwards but only when they should be certain other colours. It's like some kind of video buffer is. Or being cleared or something...

I find this happens on DS's that have been well used, it also happens on the older DS versions but they had lower quality screens so you would only see a gentle ghost like view of it.

This is a preowned system so I can't be sure of its history but, based on the condition, I'd be inclined to believe its only seen light use. The entire system, including both screens are absolutely mint, not a single mark. I find another indicator of use is the amount of smoothing of the casing around buttons and on corners where the plastic smooths or the paint wears away. There's literally none on this system. You might be right but I'd sooner believe its something else.

EDIT: I actually paid over the odds for this system because I was so impressed with the condition. Had it not appeared such good condition I might've chuckled at the price
