Question (and I mean no harm by it), why the hell are you so defensive about TF2? You'd actually be surprised at how many people actually only play for the hats, whether its F2P or those who payed.

I never really saw myself as over defensive over TF2, but I guess it's just because I'm one of the few who honestly don't care about hats all that much. Sure, they're nice to have (I've got quite the collection), but the things about it I love are the art style, humor and perhaps balance (although granted they need to nerf/buff some things like the Enforcer and tomislav which are thankfully already being nerfed in the beta).
So it just bugs me when I see somebody go "Hats ruined TF2" when it really hasn't, or somebody say they'll only assist somebody if they have a nice hat.
It's called Team Fortress for a reason.

Right, but you =/= the entire population of TF2 players. I get where you're coming from though, but hats on TF2 are like achievements in other games. I know people who will play a game they finished only to get every single achievement out there. I guess people just feel good when they get some awesome ass hats.

I don't see why people always seem to get up in arms over hats, when they where first introduced they where hard to get, but now you can get almost any hat quite easily and cheaply [1 in game refined]. Yes unusual hats can go up to $1000 but people bought MW3 for over $10,000 a week before it was released and it's not even necessary, I think people take the injoke of hats seriously and I honestly never found myself judged on a pub server [pub medics are horrible running around with there UP quick-fixes if they don't heal you it's because they suck and are just looking for a heavy to pocket], and besides anyone who plays TF2 knows misc. items is where it's at

On to the topic people seem to have forgotten, it may be a new gamemode, team deathmatch maybe? sure you have arena but not a real TDM
