maybe windows is accessing the drive. If you insert the device the windows prompt which wants to format your drive to be useable should show up. Did you abort the dialog? Else, maybe win blocks access ?
i don't get any prompt when inserting the usb, only the connection sound

ok that seems strange but maybe this is the default behaviour of win10?

what if you want to reformat the drive, is this only possible via storage settings?

Is there maybe a way to use a hex editor on my usb through vWii? My usb still works fine there so

Wait could I use hxd on my usb if I used ftpii?

update: ftpii recognises my usb but it doesn't recognise the files in it properly and trying to do anything with it through ftpii causes an error

maybe the device is broken?

seems weird that even diskpart cant format the drive, also the device not ready error

yeah, you might try assigning it a letter. though, it's strange with diskpart, because I don't think that requires a drive letter. I had to use disk part to format the recovery partition of my two old internal, laptop hdds. disk management wouldn't allow me to delete the partition. now, I have two full hdds to put into enclosures. I used my sata station to format them. :D

yes, and no. there's a mocha version that can do this, but the problem is that the games have to be indexed, which means installing them normally on a wii u formatted drive, then ftping them over to a fat32 one. it's a pita, and not worth it.

Yeah, sounds like a pain in the ass.
Welp, I'm just going to convert all the games to virtual console then.
Thank you for the reply!

that would be the only way. problem is that you can only have 292+default apps to equal about 300 or it will nag you about deleting some stuff. you can bypass the limit with system config tool, but in that, it's just a list with no icons iirc.

Does a USB SanDisk 3.2Gen1 USB Device work with Ustealth, just bought it today.
Looked at USB with HxD, looked at area 00000001F0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 AA
and there was no AB, so i dont know why it not hidding the USB, any help with this will be great!

the brand/type of usb device is irrelevant, but 1FE should be 55 (hex) and 1FF either AA or AB ("hidden").
So maybe recheck if you're really looking at the whole device (not partition)

So, followed instructions and formatted my usb with wiibackupmanager to wbfs. loaded games. Run Ustealth8 and get the error "you cannot make changes to an unknown bootsector type"? Can anyone help out?

format to fat32.
Did that. UStealth seemed to work, but never did actually hide the drive. So I used the usbtoggle on the vwii homebrew to hide it. But the only loader that seems to want to recognize my fat32 drive is wiiflow. So in the end I'm using wiiflow with the usbtoggle to hide the drive. Thanks.
