Hello

I have a 250gb 'MyPassport' HDD that I want to format for a Wii... how should I go about enabling it for both functions?

Partition the hard drive.

You first make it raw and select the amount of space you want for the first partition(active)which will become WBFS and the second partition you make it FAT32 or w/e you want it to be.

There are some programs that can partition the hard drive for you given you give the amount you want the partitions to be. When I do remember the name, I'll come back to you.

Why not just make the whole thing FAT32? All the wii apps will work with that, the only problem is you can only put files that are smaller than 4GB on it (not a problem for wii stuff, but if you are putting a big movie or something on it, you will have a problem).

The other option is to use NTFS, in which case not all wii apps will be able to use it (USB loaders can though).

Or you could partition it to something like this:
4-8GB FAT32 (keep wii apps and stuff here), and the rest NTFS (for wii games and all your other files.)

Gambia, The
a single fat partition does fine in most cases
there's no reason to want a +4G file on a wii
on PCs its easy to split/join big files if you want to transport them
most other gadgets don't support another fs anyway
