Is it possible to get the gamecube controller adapter to work with wii games being run through a usb loader? I found some old posts from over a year ago saying it is not, but I am wondering if anything has changed since.

It's not possible.

it needs the game to have a function to read USB-HID controller inputs.
Only Smash Bros WiiU and Nintendont have the HID support.
it would require the Wii game's developers to re-create the game and release them again to add HID support.

Thanks for the answer. Besides the wiimote, what other options do I have?
There is a Wiimote Gamecube adapter so you can plug your GameCube controller to the Wiimote, much like a Classic Controller. It kinda sucks because the GameCube controller has no LZ though.

What if a launcher app to the Wii emulator for vWii homebrew came out that recognized the adapters inputs and converted them into what the game recognizes
