Update -

IOMEGA PRESTIGE 250G USB-

Does not work out of box- finally managed to FORMAT to FAT and was then recognised and currently copying Aliens v Monsters.

Comes with double ended USB cable but works with only one.

PS - havent got a clue on wiki could someone post on my behalf?

Hey Guys,

I try'd 2 of my UBS Sticks today, both werent working; Sony Micro Vault 8 GB and another one with 4 GB both bring Identify-Error.

Can someone please tell me a USB Stick with 1/2/4/8 GB which is definitively working?

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Has anyone but the one mention been able to get this to work with a 30gb ipod? I want to try this tonight and have the old ipod but not a proper external drive yet.

Maxtor Basics 500GB works like a charm.

Wonderful first post!
Will get one of these tomorrow then.
Agree, I'll get this on too =)

I'm really relieved because my currect one (FujitsuSiemens Storagebird 35EV821) doesn't work so I'll get one which does work

My Maxtor basics 320GB USB powered is working perfectly.
This drive has 2 usb plugs, but works great with just 1 connected on my Wii.

May I ask why/when it would need 2 usb plugs on it?

And has anyone tried terabyte hard drives? I didn't look at every post, just checked the compatability matrix.

One = Data / Power
Other = Power

to give more juice to the unit

Using a Western Digital 1TB My Book Essential and it's running perfectly. (200GB partitioned for Wii use)

Cheap little I-Rocks HDD 3.5 enclosure worked fine with a 30gig Western Digital and a 250gig Western Digital.

See It Here

They have it listed for $25.98....
But i picked one up for $13.00 from a local computer store....

Heh, yeah I realized that after I thought about where a external drive would get power if it were being plugged into a laptop.

I'll be trying a terabyte by the weekend if I can find my gift cards, but I hope someone can confirm they work before I get one.

heres a weird one for you guys. i have a broken 5G 30gig ipod. i took it apart a while ago and noticed that the the connection from the HDD to the main board was damaged, and seeing as it was out of warrenty, i just left it for scrap. i just ordered a casing for the HDD so i can use that as my temporary wii backup drive, so ill be sure to post back my results

its a toshiba 1.8" 30 gig HDD. i dont see why it shouldn't work after its formatted
