Hello.
I’m sure it’s been asked many times but I just undusted my Wii U to play some Wii games I missed out on back in the day and wanted to know what are the best settings to get the cleanest image for Wii games on a 1920x1080 4k screen?

I am on ver.3.0 rev.1272 the one that has the options for 480p Pixel fix Patch

Thanks in advance!

run the latest blackb0x release from oscwii.org (or his signature) and also apply the remove deflicker option
Thanks! The difference is like night and day now. Some games like RE4 can even benefit more from deflicker OFF (extended) makes the image look super clean and way better for 4K.
I am impressed! What else is blackbox working on updating?

After all these years, still no option to separate viewing of titles by platform/type.
And not in the way where they get lumped together by that but are all still in view next to each other.
I'm talking about essentially just having a button as a shortcut that flips through showing ONLY the one type of game while still sorting alphabetically.

Would make having larger libraries of collectively Wii, GC, and WiiWare/VC games easier and nicer to jump around through when looking at what game you are in the mood for.

It surprises me further that the functionality is basically already there.
Can do this manually by clicking the icon at the top and unchecking the platform/type you don't want to show, but that's painfully clunky and not user friendly compared to just having some big-ish single buttons to press to essentially check and uncheck all those options automatically and refresh the page.

Oh well, guess nobody out there who has the ability to program and edit this application has ever really felt like it was important to do, or someone did do it, but did it only for themselves and never committed it to the Git to share with everyone else.

I know I'm not the first person to ever bring this up as a topic regarding USBLGX either lol, and I probably won't be the last.

But hey, maaaaybe this feature is going to be in the soon to be released update and it's just been kept hush hush so it can be revealed like a surprise.

Would it be possible someday to have an option to launch vWii homebrew apps already overclocked by somehow incorporating what Sign C2W Patcher does?

Just talking out of my head here, I can understand if it’s not possible too.

Really enjoying a bunch of Wii titles I never played before and also some nice emulation.
Thanks in advance!

As you state, the option is there. It's also easy to get to and use (especially for anyone savvy enough to have managed "larger libraries of collectively Wii, GC, and WiiWare/VC games" on their modded Wii), and I've never found it painful in any way. You may wish to have screen real estate taken up by such a (big) button, but I don't and I would bet that most people don't. That is probably why the very, very few times it has been brought up over the years no one has taken any action. Not everything needs to have a big button on the home screen, especially when there is such a simple way to accomplish the same thing that has been there for more than a decade.

You'll find out soon :) I'm currently collaborating with Oddx to make sure that all cache related issues are fixed.

Unfortunately I don't own a Wii U, so I can't say for sure if it'd be possible or not. But it doesn't seem to be a simple patch anyway, so it's not like I could easily add all of the code into the loader and then have someone else try it.

I do agree that it'd be nice to have a button to cycle through game types, but unfortunately that would break support for every theme released within the last 10+ years.

The tabbed version of the loader that fandango mentioned seems like it would be perfect for you. And I'll probably start working on that again once I've released a new loader update.

Hi,
Could someone help me getting my USBLoaderGX and Homebrew Channel settings back to "normal" ?

I used to use HBC along with Wiiflow to play emulators, homebrews showed on a different page than Wii games, GC games had to launched and played through Nintendont homebrew

I switched some weeks ago to USBLoaderGX, it worked perfectl and fits my needs : GC and Wii games all together, Wii-like UI and simpler homebrew access.

I could indifferently use Wii System Menu Homebrew Channel / USBLoaderGX Homebrew Channel Banner Channel / Homebrew-Channel-type bottom right icon. All of these paths worked as intended.

About a week ago, I noted that it was all messy now, and I cannot understand how and why. I mean I didn't mess into any loader settings or hack settings.

Now, my loader behaviour is the following :
Homebrew Channel launched through USBLGX Home button shortcut is ok
Homebrew channel banner launches HBC installer and hangs on the scam screen forever
Homebrew bottom right button prompts a Wii-like screen but totally empty, blank, and sort of softlocks the Wii, I have to power it off to get back to USBLoaderGX menu

A few days ago, I reinstalled USBLoaderGX. Same issue.
I tried to redo Bathaxx. Same issue.

It sounds like you've got NAND issues, so it might help if you could share a syscheck.

Did you delete any USB Loader GX folders from both your SD card and USB HDD before placing the new files?

Is it possible to bring back Hermes v5.1 support, like in GX v2.1?
As far as I'm aware the Hermes cIOS should still work. Although you shouldn't need to use the Hermes cIOS for anything but a few custom games.

@Niavy, this is what sometimes happens when the hbc is installed in unintended ways. If u resoftmod u should be fine, if launching the hackmii installer via an exploit doesn't work, try Modmii's hackmii solutions wizard. Or do as blackb0x suggested and run syscheck, then drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe and it will tell you what to do

Why would you need Hermes support when d2x is more stable
Because WeSing does'nt work well with d2x. The Lyrics are not in sync with audio and video. Only with 224-MLOAD WeSing working great.

As far as I'm aware the Hermes cIOS should still work. Although you shouldn't need to use the Hermes cIOS for anything but a few custom games.
When I enter 224 in the game settings and start the game, the screen stays black. With the GX 2.1 the game starts as desired.

Gonna learn about the sysch3ck and do it, saw it here and there a few times but never needed it.

I can't remember rn what I deleted to reinstall. Should I wipe it all from both SD and HDD then before relaunching exploit ? (I will use Lego Batman one, that's dumb but I like the way it works better than the "user-friendly" Bannerb0mb xD)

@blackb0x

You have a bunch of patched IOSs that could be the issue; it shouldn't matter though since your HBC is running off IOS58 and your IOS58 appears to be clean.

I suggest you drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe, it will help you install unpatched IOSs where appropriate, overwriting all the garbage you currently have in place. This may not solve your issue, in which case you should also launch the hackmii installer again and reinstall the HBC, hopefully it works properly this time

Some more background info: it's possible your current hbc v1.1.2 was installed via a packed wad or something instead of the hackmii installer, so even though it appears fine on your syscheck reinstalling it via the hackmii installer could resolve your issues; or you can reinstall the HBC in wad form - which only works if you are installing the open versions of the channel (v1.1.4 or v1.1.5), v1.1.2 is just as good as 1.1.5 for your purposes, so don't worry if you decide to use the hackmii installer to reinstall v1.1.2, this version is just as good as v1.1.5.

edit: HBC v1.0.7 or lower can also be installed via wad form, checks weren't added until v1.0.8-1.1.2 to promote people using the official hackmii installer instead of a packed wad, but you want to be on v1.1.2 or higher
