I'm not very good in video modes and resolution sorry.
I don't have that game to compare so I can't help you. maybe the game is not widescreen compatible and therefore displays in native 4:3 instead of weird aspect ratio compensation to display on a wide tv?
edit: ah you uploaded comparisons. yeah, that's noticeable, but I don't know the reason.

I have both games forced to 4:3 mode because that's what the pre-rendered backgrounds were designed for, so it should be fairly apples to apples. Fingers crossed there is a solution though, 'cause the difference is pretty striking.

What I wrote is still correct though because they're superior models by default that don't require patches. Plus I wrote it the way I did so that people could easily identify if they're likely to see a difference or not.

I guess I can simplify it further.
  • If your Wii is black, red or light blue then you don't require patches to improve it's video output quality
  • If your Wii is white with the revision code RVL-CPU-40 or RVL-CPU-60 then you don't require patches to improve it's video output quality
  • If your Wii is white with the revision code RVL-CPU-01, RVL-CPU-20 or RVL-CPU-30 then their will be an improvement with 480p patches applied
You might not see the difference, especially if you're using a 4K TV or something like a HDMI converter.
I have a white with RVL 40 and with the patch i see a bit improve in texts, many people say that some boards of that revision need the patch while others not, what could be the reason?

@Draxikor Most people seem to think they should look the same, but I'm honestly not sure. I'm only basing it off what I've read a few times.

It could be the placebo effect, so you'd probably need to get some good pictures with the patch enabled and then disabled to confirm it.

Hey guys!

My games crashes at start to homebrew screen if usb loader gx was started as homebrew or system menu if using the forwarder.

I recently undusted my wii (bought at launch), updated to 4.3E and softmodded it with letterbomb.

I have installed
I used witgui on mac to format an old usb2 samsung 120gb hdd to wbfs and put some games in there.

The games show up fine, but when I start a game, the screen goes black and I get thrown back to either homebrew channel or system menu depending on from where I started usb loader gx.

I tried to set both global ios249 and ios250, usb loader is set to ios58, but the games just crash any ways.

Any ideas?

I tried to lurk about in this thread, but cant really find any other hints on what to try? I also tried to reinstall cios a couple of time out of pure desperation... Still nothing.

Here is the version part of the usb loader gx meta file
Code:
        <name> USB Loader GX</name>
        <coder>USB Loader GX Team</coder>
        <version>3.0 r1272</version>
        <release_date>20190615140527</release_date>

Couldnt get wbfs2fat working on my mac.
Then tried formatting fat32 on mac and tested which didnt work.
So finally digged up a virtual machine and installed wii backup manager for windows. Formated FAT32 with 32k cluster size and added new super mario through the backup manager.

...and still crash on start... :-S

Any other ideas that I could test?

OK. Issue solved.
The usb connector had to be inserted in the port closest to the edge of the wii. Now all games just magically works.

Thanks for the help anyways! Moving to FAT32 makes filling the drive up with games alot easier. :-)

Is there a current version which supports the download of geckocodes (ocarina) ? I read that there was an older version that uses another network lib, but I'd like to use the current one.

No.

This has nothing to do with the Version.
geckocodes.org uses an DDosS protection which prevents the USBLoader from download Codes directly.:)

I hope this is the right place to post this...
I am having a problem loading RiiConnect24 Everybody Votes from the loader. If I open it, it loads up with an error saying it couldn't connect to the internet.
Loading from the Wii's home screen works just fine.

Do I need have specific settings for it, is this is glitch, or something else?

@DeadOneWalking
I would recommend asking in the RiiConnect24 Discord server, I guess at least try setting the IOS for Everybody Votes Channel to use IOS 31.
I'll have to find some other way to get help, I never used Discord and I'm not allowed to say anything in there.
I can't set IOS below 200, the loader gives an error when trying to do so.

Thanks anyway, I'll be looking for help else-ware.
