If you set 249, then Wiixplorer reload the IOS and re-init the drive.
If you set 58, I suppose it doesn't reload/reinit the drive, expecting a launch from HBC and thinking HBC already did it.
I don't know if I can launch homebrew without deinitializing hdd first, I could try.

yes, and the cios249 reloading happens right after the "Mounting devices" message.

I am not sure if de-init HDD or not before launching homebrew will help or not. In theory, we should reset/de-init HDD before handing them over to other homebrews (after the apps is loaded into memory if the apps happens to reside in HDD).
It should be the job of the apps to init HDD or do they really rely on HBC?
HBC won't list apps on HDD unless you told it to.

You said you force a reload to IOS58 for nintendont, but the same thing (HDD not found) happens in r1180 which is before nintendont's development. So I doubt if it was the cause, at least something before nintendont support was added.

I found something last week about that but I can't remember where I saw it. I'll try to relocate the information.

I also have to run most everything under a cIOS rather than IOS58 or I get freezes while writing to my HDD. WiiFlow gets dumps before it even finishes loading without forcing IOS249. Small writes are fine but larger ones like disc rips fail.

Works fine for SD, though.

hmm, I forget that launching Wiixplorer via ULGX actually launches the forwarder channel for Wiixplorer, so there is one more layer to the problem... (remember, I tried launching Wiixplorer with boot ios as 58 via system menu - i.e. forwarder and it detects the HDD no problem
- and that means we can't un-mount the HDD if the app is located in the HDD unless the forwarder itself will mount the HDD on its own. But it should or how else does it work from system menu?)
Just throwing my thoughts about the problem, not that if its worth the effort to fix it if there was no quick fixes.

Edit: Further to the forwarder thoughts, I actually moved the Wiixplorer app from SD to HDD; start the channel from system menu to make sure it works. Then I launch it from ULGX and... it won't even start Wiixplorer - simply return to ULGX after trying to load Wiixplorer for a while.
So, the forwarder can't init the HDD when launch via ULGX.

Just to make sure I'm not getting errors; when I try to boot a GCN game it simply boots up Nintendont and doesn't boot up the game. Am I having a glitch or is this normal? I'm asking because I would presume it boots up the game.

Bug: USB Loader GX is not able to start a game when the gamefile is renamed ! Like actual Wiimmfi Patcher v3 does it (i contacted Wiimm today)
Mario Strikers Charged Football [R4QP01].wbfs WONT WORK it MUST BE named R4QP01.wbfs

I'm having an issue, I'm using USB Loader GX R1260, I haven't played any Neo Geo VC title for a while and today I was in the mood to play some Last Blade 2, I noticed every Neo Geo VC game I've tested from my EmuNAND (NEEK) gives me an error message right after the "Loading" screen, I tested other VC and WW games and they all worked fine, at first I thought it's my new HDD but I tested my old one and it gives me the same error, then I tried going back to R1259 and it's the same, maybe someone can help me? Thank you!

I just got a new Wii after 2 years of not having one, and softmodded, added homebrew etc. Now, my issue is that I install USB Loader GX 3 from first post to my SD card. When I launch it all paths are set to usb1:/ and not sd:/. I checked the custom paths in settings as I was told I can change them to sd:/ there, but I can't. I've seen posts stating that there is a button that switch from USB to SD, but There is no such thing. How can I make it read/write all but the backups from my SD card? I just want my games on the USB, not the loader, themes etc. etc.

That's not a bug, it's a requirement.

What link did you use to download the loader? The main banner links to an old installer. The current version is here.

Are you using any cheats? I noticed whenever I tried using any cheats on Neo Geo games I would always get an error.

I used this link: http://usbloader-gui.googlecode.com/files/USBLoader_GX_V3_0_AllinOnePackage_IOS249.zip

Also tried the latest rev from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/latest/download

They both give the same result. themes, updates, covers.... All goes to the USB. And the paths is not editable. Even tried editing the cfg-file manually, but that does nothing.

Edit: It seems that USB Loader is defaulted to use usb1:/ as path for all but Gc games. That's the only thing not showing as usb1:/. I don't use Gc games anyway, but still odd that nothing else is getting added to sd:/, (even if I set it as default path manually in cfg-file).

That is the old version.

Yes, that one. If you installed the "UNLR" channel version you need to uninstall it and use the UNEO forwarder and /apps/ version. The channel is discontinued and can never update to the current revision.

Make sure you're updated to r1260 first and are using only the forwarder and post back if it's still not working.

So I removed everything, installed the latest rev and used USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad.

Still pulls the same stunt and gives me default path only to USB.

I made sure to delete everything related to USB Loader from both sd card and USB drive, so no old configs lying around.

Edit: I tried without the forwarder as well, but still the same result. Everything is pointing to my usb drive.

Try deleting everything again and reinstalling and then boot up USB Loader GX without a USB drive plugged in. The loader should still load up and you should be able to go to settings. Everything should default to SD since there is no USB drive to set anything to.

Like he said, users not following naming convention is not a bug, it's a user error.
The loader has always worked like that, and it's up to the user to properly name the file, not the contrary.
it's like saying "I moved the file out of the wbfs folder, and it doesn't work anymore", the wbfs folder is required by convention too.
Just use WiiBackupManager to move the game to your HDD, like any other games, to get the proper filename and path layout.

I'm having an issue, [...] any Neo Geo VC title for a while and today I was in the mood to play some Last Blade 2, I noticed every Neo Geo VC game I've tested from my EmuNAND (NEEK) [...]
I don't know if it's your issue, nor don't remember if it's neogeo related, but I think these games only work in interlace mode. or non wide-screen, or something like that. you need to set the Wii back to "old display style". (4:3 interlace)
If you use NEEK and want to keep auto-boot game enabled, you will have to create two different EmuNAND dump, with two different NEEK video settings.
install the games in both NAND path, so you always see all your games, but edit the individual path for that game's emuNAND to use the correct NEEK settings for autoboot.

tried, but now the paths default to usb8
"USB8" is a symptom of "no USB detected on setting file creation process on first launch".
The "default" path for gamecube IS on the USB, if you want it to SD, you just have to edit it in the menu (don't edit the file manually).
But there's two "gamecube path", the "main" and the "SD".
the SD path will always be on SD, and is used by Dios Mios Lite.
the "main" is the one where the discs are dumped to. it can be either USB or SD.

Then why does all paths automativally change to usb1 when I insert a USB-drive? Even after first launch with no drive...?

I don't use GameCube or nothing. I use Wii backups from my USB-drive. All I need is for the loader to make paths for everything except the Wii games pointing to SD card and NOT my USB-drive.

Are you sure the drive is MBR not GPT?
