I had Issues with usb loader GX until I Removed the Archive Atribute from my files. My windows 8.1 always set the archive atribute to the files I copy to external media. So I just right clicked the wbfs folder, chose properties, clicked advanced and unchecked the set files for archive. Since then everything worked for me.

Sorry for the typos, english is not my main language.

PS : USB loader GX is amazing.

Thanks for reporting Archive is also an issue (Users reported that "Read Only" is an issue too).
It will be easier to help users with games not working.

I don't know if it's a new issue, or if it always existed in previous version too, I'll check if updating libFAT can help.

did you delete the patched version?
the loader is detecting games based on the gameID, if there are multiple games with the same GameID it's not working.

SSBB non patched works fine for me (and for everyone I think).
If you don't see the banner animation, maybe your ISO/WBFS is corrupted.
Try to redump your disc (set the setting>hdd>Partition settings to "all partitions" for that game, or you will miss data), or to reinstall the iso with wiibackupmanager.

Edit:
Verify your game file is not set to "Read only", or "Archive".
It has been reported few times that these attributes are creating issues with game launching.
Redumping the disc and checking if it was Read only or Archive worked great and everything is working fine now. Thank you very much Cyan. B-)

Hello,

I want to run Gamecube games from my USB harddrive (seagate 1TB expansion).
I figured out how to rip/install them, I had to change the output folder to my harddrive.
After ripping my games, I want to start them but it asks me to transfer the games to my SD card.

Is it possible to launch and play gamecube games from my USB harddrive with USBloaderGX?
And if so, what setting do I need to change or what do I need to install.. etc.?

If you need specific information, just ask me :-)

Thanks

Hello to everyone and thanks for this great software.
Some quick questions. I'm upgrading from v2.3 to v3.0. After moving all the files to sd card I can run v3.0 using the old channel!!, which is fine by me. In any case maybe I should upgrade but I don't have the original wad to remove it using wad manager so:

1. Can I remove it using wii system backup menu?
2. Should I upgrade to the new channel anyway?

other questions:

3. Should I add a forwarder? What are the benefits?
4. I use the WBMS? format in a single partition. I like the smaller files, do I have to change to FAT32 if I don't play any GC games? I don't really mind adding/removing wads using wad manager for VC/WW.

Usefull stuff:
Softmoded - (Letterbomb... still on SD, I can reinstall HBC if needed)
HBC v1.1.2 - (shows 58 on 249 in info)
I've upgraded to 1226 using update function
I've manually updated to 1227 by only replacing the new .dol (not the elf)

If it asks you to put games on SD, it's either:
- You didn't update the loader (go to settings > update)
or
- You installed DIOS MIOS Lite (which load games only from SD). Install DIOS MIOS instead.

dinos:
1. You can remove it with the Wii system menu > data management.
You can also remove it with a Wad Manager, but you need the original wad you used to install the channel.
If the channel you have is the full channel (and not the forwarder).
You can find both "full channel" and "Forwarder" wads in the "all-in-one package".

2. The full channel has no new version since 3.0 r1180
it's recommended to use the Forwarder channel install, which will let you launch newer version of the loader.

3. Yes, install the forwarder.
There are few benefit:
- You can launch the loader directly from the System menu without going into HBC
- You can update the loader simply by replacing one file on SD card, no need to reinstall any channels for each update
- You can use the "return to" feature to reload the loader when exiting a game
- You can auto-launch the loader at console boot using priiloader+forwarder dol (in the all-in-one package, wad/forwarder folder)

Install the Forwarder 5.1
it enables AHB access which is required for Gamecube loading and for "channel layout".

4. You have a WBFS partition ?
You can keep it like that if you don't need Gamecube games or EmuNAND.
Just know that this partition format has corruption issues, when adding a game you risk to corrupt existing games (without knowing that your old games became corrupted because it can corrupt a part later in a game, not accessed at launch). You probably already have corrupted games without knowing it.

Thanks for your support.

I installed the full channel.
It's recommended to use an updated forwarder channel?
and from what I understand it IS possible to launch GC games from USB or not?

I did install the full version of DIOS MIOS (not lite)

Dios Mios is for GC games from USB (FAT32)
Dios Mios Lite is for GC games from SD (FAT32)

If you install the full channel, it will install an old version of the loader inside your Wii. (that version, v3.0 r1180, doesn't support Gamecube games from USB).

If you install the forwarder channel, it will install only a forwarder in your wii. The actual USBLoaderGX program is located on your SD card, not on your wii, and you can update it easily by replacing the "boot.dol" file on your SD card.
The latest version of "boot.dol" is r1227 mod1 (to become 1228 soon, as users reported only good things), and it supports loading Gamecube Games from USB.

to know if you are correctly launching the full Channel or the forwarder, go into the Settings>Credit
it it's "3.0c" it's the channel version.
if it's "3.0" it's the independent version, launched from HBC or from the forwarder.

So I have my autoboot set to USB Loader GX via priiloader, but any time I have it set like this and try to go to the system menu, it takes me right back to USB Loader GX. Is there a way to make USB Loader GX go to your system menu, and not just the autoboot? I know other homebrew apps accomplish this.

look in the settings > features.
there's an option to bypass priiloader's setting. I never tested it as I don't have priiloader myself, but I think it's what you are looking for.

I don't see the option in feature settings, All I see are : Titles from GameTDB, Cache Titles, Force Tiles from Disc, Wiilight, Rumble, AutoInit Network, Messageboard update, Wiinnertag, Import Categories, then a series of emunand options.

I did see "Return to" in the Loader Settings, but that only gives me a selection of channels, no system menu.

sixaxis support wii family edition
Hello jayglass,

Because you seem new here let me give you some advise.

1. If you are going to post something, please be very clear of what you want and elaborate if you can (also in other threads).
If i look at what you posted now, it could be either you have a problem with a device or you want the developer to add support for it.
Even so, it is still needed to also mention the controller you use and what you want to use it for.

2. It is also not needed to post your problem / request multiple times in a day, as long as you post it in the right topic.

That said, i hope you will get the answer you are looking for

I guess you are asking is USBLoaderGX can add support for PS3/PS4 controller?
It can technically be added (at least for PS3), as there's a library (libsickaxis + USB cable) available for wii.

It would work with all wii (not only the family edition), BUT only when you are inside USBLoaderGX!
USBLoaderGX can't add controller support outside of its own program. That means it will not be added to Gamecube support, Wii games, Wiiware, etc.

Technically possible also doesn't mean it will be done.

Seeing you are spamming the forum with the same ... question ? affirmation? (there's no question mark), I assume you are not interested in adding support to USBLoaderGX but to EVERYTHING, which is not possible.

Peninsula:
update the loader version.
You can update it from the internal update menu (if you are using the HBC version).
If you are using the Channel version (3.0c in the credit page), you will have to use the HBC or forwarder version instead.

According to the credits, I have rev. 1226. When I tried to update USB Loader GX it says no new update available.
