I updated my Homebrew channel and now when I press home and choose to go back to loader the system freezes.
Should I downgrade Homebrew channel now?
I love this loader and I don't want to go to Wiiflow
What would be great is a JODI hidden channel forwarding to the new HBC channel ID, like there is for HAXX->JODI
I don't know if the HAXX->JODI sources are available, but any forwarder sources would work.

any chance of seeing a fowarder channel that can load up from ntfs? crap can make game channls that load from ntfs drives, but what about a fowarder for the loader itself.. can that be done?

I don't know what makes you think that all this discussion about NTFS writing bugs doesn't apply to you, but not being able to write setting, cover art, etc. just because it is on an NTFS partition would be a real pain in the ass.

Yes. It just works

you don't have to do anything fancy just run it.

I haven't even been keeping current and am still on rev 899 (any reason to update?)

I do believe you need to use cIOS 222 though but not certain since I use that by default.

How Do I Know What Version I Have For My USBLoader GX? , cuz i wasen't playing wii for a while & i forget wht version i have , i was focusing on ps3
nayps3.gif

wht's the best version for playing metroid other m?

cIOS249 rev17 is working fine for Metroid. I finished the game with this cIOS.

To see the revision number, you can go to USBloaderGX preferences, then Credits option.
on the top right, you have GX version, and your current IOS and revision.

Though, if it's a cIOSx (rev 18+), it doesn't tell you which base it is.
Wiiflow tell you which base IOS you used to install the cIOSx (click on the "?" button at the bottom left)

can u give me the link for the version u have please? ^^"

the link for what ?

usbloaderGX rev927 (the one I'm using), (needs WBFS partition+cIOS rev17) : Official GX website, Download page
cIOS[38] rev17 ? Official website, or Filetrip

Wiiflow (works with WBFS with rev17; and FAT32/NTFS with cIOSrev18+) : Official website
Download the "base" version which correspond to the cIOS slot you want to use. r92a-WiiFlow_250.zip will need cIOS installed on slot 250.
cIOSx rev20b : filetrip

I recommand installing cIOS rev17 (it will install on slot 249, and 250), then install cIOSxRev20[base IOS56] on slot 250 (it will replace cIOS17).
if you want to play with a WBFS partition, run GX on 249
if you want to play with a FAT32/NTFS, use a compatible loader (not USBloaderGX) with slot250

Rev 938 (channel & dol) gives me a black screen when I select exit to loader (HBC) and I have to do a hard power off.
Exiting to system menu is okay (channel & dol) and loading rev 938 from HBC is okay as well.
I currently have HBC 1.0.8 installed.
Looks like rev 938 has some issues with HW_AHBPROT.

I love this loader but it is outdated know. we should use another browser because it seems there is no developer who want to support this loader.

It is OSS so i will never stop hoping that there will be one who continous the great work.

I wouldn't say that USB Loader GX is outdated. As of r938, I have no issues playing any games. Until a game can't be played you can't say it is outdated. Feature wise, it is limited, but that's why there are other loaders with different feature sets out there. I personally like the simplicity of USB Loader GX and its looks.

I have been considering moving over to the feature rich uLoader, or Config, but not until GX stops working for me. I might just skip switching and use SNEEK at a future point anyways lol.

As far as playing Metroid - Other M goes, using r938 with cIOSx rev20 with IOS57 base as IOS249 and have had no problems. I use the Metroid.Other.M.USA.REAL.PROPER.REPACK.WII-BiOSHOCK release on a WBFS formatted partition.

Since it doesn't look like the Google Code bug page is getting any attention, does anybody have the same problem with a FAT drive not being recognized when updating to the newest revision?(asks to format or pick a partition. When correct partition is chosen it code dumps)

After a ton of switching between Hermes v4/5.1 IOS222(default config) and cIOSx rev20 IOS57 base as IOS249 there are no solutions to this. Even going back to the rev that worked for me previously, r920, and the patched IOS's I had then doesn't fix the problem. It works fine in Config so it's not a problem with the drive or lack of the proper cIOS to read a FAT drive at all. All I can think of is compatiblilty between GX and the IOS's I currently have setup on my console and might have got changed somewhere.

Current setup is:
Hermes v5.1 as 222
cIOSx rev20 IOS57 base as IOS249
USBLoader GX r938
Problem persists

I've also deleted all config files off the SD card when switching revisions and am sure to load with IOS222 by waiting out the 30 second timer without the HDD plugged in.

It's probably not easy to recreate this or find out what's doing it but the most I ask of is if you have a working setup with a FAT drive and r938 (or anything higher than r920) post your installed cIOS info and what IOS bases you use, etc.

Thanks guys.

Specht... I only use FAT32 and NTFS partitions and don't use anything but USB Loader GX. I've been using r899 but just upgraded to r938 tonight to check it out.

I use Hermes 222 rev 4
(I've read that 5 isn't supported and you aren't supposed to use it but don't quote me on that).

Everything works just fine and dandy (I tested it using FAT32).
I played a few games including Metroid- Other M just fine.

It doesn't matter but my Wii is 4.0U

Your problem is likely one of configuration (asks to format or pick a partition. When correct partition is chosen it code dumps) DON'T pick a partition there... use the third choice and continue into GX and set your partition in the settings once you're in GX (I remember running into this problem once and that's how I solved it)

I also have cIOS rev12 running as 249 but I never use it so that doesn't really matter either

And as far as USB Loader GX being outdated? lol gimme a break! It's refreshing not to have 32 revs an hour like the old days. It's a testament to how well GX works that it doesn't need constant tweaking and runs everything just fine.

Again, thank you to all the developers of USB Loader GX for dedicating their time and giving us such an awesome product... FOR FREE!!!

Whoops! Typo...

yes, it's not outdated, all my games work fine

(WBFS partition = 0 problem)
I agree that NTFS is missing, I don't know if it will be added later again. (r-win did it first, then removed it and said he will add it again with better coding. But he is now more active on Wiiflow team)

Hermes V5 is not supported.
and cIOSx 18+ for FAT32/NTFS is not supported either.
The support was added then removed, due to 1) stability, and 2) compatibility (Prince of Persia needed some changes back).
If you want to try it yourself, use revision between 923-930.

If you want FAT32 (no NTFS) use Hermes V4.
BEST setup for GX :
1- cIOS249[38]rev17 : use this one as main IOS if you don't have FAT32 partition
2- Hermes v4 [37+38] : use this one as main IOS if you have FAT32
3- cIOS250[56]rev20 : this one for individual game launching on WBFS (and maybe FAT32?, but Hermes V4 does the job too) for problematic games (music, mh, arf). (Note: Arc Rise Fantasia needs this one, it freeze on Hermes V4)
no NTFS support.

There's no need to update cIOS if all is working with older one, and not with newer O_o
just use the one working for you.

I currently have HBC 1.0.8 installed.
Looks like rev 938 has some issues with HW_AHBPROT.
It has nothing to do with HW_AHBPROT !
HW_AHBPROT is a flag set to the "currently used IOS by HBC" (IOS58) when running a homebrew (you have to edit the meta.xml) to enable hardware access to THAT IOS (IOS58 original, unpatched).
USBloader need to change and reload another cIOS, so there is no HW_AHBPROT flag at all.

What your problem is :

For everyone who updated HBC to 1.0.7 and 1.0.8:
in USBloader, back to loader = load "JODI" channel.
But you updated the homebrew channel, and since 1.0.7, the homebrew channel has change name. JODI doesn't exist anymore.
Until USBloaderGX is updated to support the new HBC title, you need to install a hidden channel named JODI acting as a forwarder to the new HBC name. (or reinstall HBC1.0.6, but you will have 2 HBC channel)

Download this forwarder dol
Then use "Hide and Seek" with the dol to make it a hidden channel forwarder, with title ID : JODI
install the wad to your Wii.
USBloaderGX (and any other old homebrew trying to load JODI) will be redirected and will be able to boot HBC1.0.7+

I Got A Problem
frown.gif

I Know It Isn't The Correct Subject To Put This Problem ^^"
But We Have Here Many Brilliant Guys ^^
My Problem Is I Can't Got To Wii System! , It Gives Me Black Screen Then It Turns Off!
I Need To Go There Cuz I Need To Change The Connection That I've Putted Before ^^"
Wishing For Help ^^

EDIT : I've Solved It

The JODI forwarder wad didn't work.
I Installed the resultant JODI.WAD with Wad Manager 1.7 and it still gave me a black screen when I chose exit to loader on USB Loader GX.
Tested with both channel and dol. Had to do a hard power off.
Maybe it's not compatible with rev 938.
Thanks for correcting me about the HW_AHBPROT flag though.
