Hey guys!
I have been trying to play burnt gamecube games on the Wii for a while now. Burnt Wii games work(on Neogamma), but burnt Gamecube games dont work :S. I tried Dios Mios with USB Loader Gx 3.0 (For Gamecube) and i get "fatal error apploader size is zero" on the Dios Mios loading screen and it freezes....
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Is that really DIOS MIOS, or DIOS MIOS Lite?
Which version of DIOS MIOS? Disc based games don't work with all version.
Which exact revision number of USBloaderGX? (3.0 doesn't work with DIOS MIOS)
Are your wii updated? (you need BC v6)
If you use DIOS MIOS from disc, you still need to have a HDD connected on USB with a FAT32 partition.
You want to play from burned Disc? So I assume you have a modchip?
If you don't have a modchip then you will need to make an ISO of your game on USB or SD.
DIOS MIOS doesn't allow burn disc without a modchip.
To play gamecube games from SD or USB, there are some requirements.
- Correct Loader version
- Correct DIOS MIOS version
- Correct partition format
First, you need to update the USB loader.
Two different loaders (more exists, but it's long to make a guide):
(easier to use and setup)
download the file, and extract it on SD :/apps/DMBooter/boot.dol
You are using Homebrew channel to launch the loader?
To find out: go into USBloader > settings > credit.
If the version is "3.0c" you are using the channel. if it's "3.0" (without the C) then you are good
If you are using "3.0" then it means that the loader is on your SD card (or your USB) and you probably have this file:
SD or USB :/apps/usbloader_gx/boot.dol
if you do, then it is the USBloaderGX version 3.0
You need to replace this file with a more recent version.
If you are using "3.0c", then you will need to use SD card or USB and create this path.
Download USBLoaderGX revision 1204
Open the file with 7zip, and extract the file "boot.dol" located in IOS249 folder.
Place the "boot.dol" file into your SD or USB :/apps/usbloader_gx/boot.dol
Then put your SD card on Wii, and run the USBloader.
If you had "3.0c" always run from homebrew channel, not from the channel on the system menu.
Click on the 4th icon in the top menu, and select "GC games".
You can see installed USBLoader version and installed DIOS MIOS (Lite) version in the Credit page.
Update your DIOS MIOS:
There are two versions
DIOS MIOS : runs ISO from USB, and retail games from Disc (not burn if you don't have modchip)
DIOS MIOS Lite : runs ISO from SD, and retail games from Disc (not burn if you don't have modchip)
Then extract the downloaded file, and use a Wad Manager to install it on your Wii.
Partition format:
The partition must be in FAT32
Cluster size: 32k for USB
Cluster size: 32k or 64k for SD
if you use USB: Partition must the first first one on your drive, must be a primary partition (not an extended or virtual partition), and must be active.
Making an ISO of your game:
1. If you have the game in Disc form:
Launch the USBLoader, insert the game disc in the Wii, accept to install game.
2. If you already have the ISO:
put the ISO file in this folder:
SD or USB :/games/game name/game.iso
the folder "game name" is the only thing you need to change.
For example:
USB: /games/Zelda twilight/game.iso
USB: /games/mario sunshine/game.iso
3. If you want to run from Disc (retail game, not burn)
DIOS MIOS Lite: put the game in the Wii and launch it from system menu, or from USBloader's Disc menu.
DIOS MIOS: insert the USB HDD on your Wii. Then put the game in the Wii and launch it from system menu, or from USBloader's Disc menu.
Advantage of using the USBloader to launch from disc: you can use some settings, like virtual memory card.
Hey sorry one more thing.
When i try to load my USB into USB Loader Gx. It says initializing usb device and then it freezes.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I thought it worked fine. how did you launched gamecube games if it's not working? you used the SD card and DML?
Did you put the device in the port 0? (this is the one near the edge, at the bottom if you put the Wii horizontally)
You have multiple partitions on the drive, or only one?
try creating a folder named wbfs (this is the folder used for Wii games).
USB :/wbfs/
USB :/games/
Yeah it worked when i was using my sd card to run the games but my sd card is only 8 gb and my harddrive is 500gb so i was gonna run my games off the harddrive. but when i put the harddrive in it doesnt load and it says initializing USB device. Ill try the folder thing in an hour or so and get back to you.
Your computer (if you are using windows) probably has "Disk C" where you have windows, and "Disk D", and Disk E, etc.
One of these letter is the DVD, the others are external devices (SD card, USB, etc.), and the others are Hard drives.
For easyness, a physical Hard drive can be split by software in different "parts" which have all their own letters and acts as if it were different Hard drives.
That way, when you format/reinstall a partition, you don't loose other partition's data.
USBloader on Wii are compatible with partitionned HDD too.
Each partition can have a different format (FAT32, NTFS, exFAT, ext2, etc.)
You said you understood the guide, so I suppose you know what a partition format is?
I explained that your drive must be in FAT32, I suppose you know what it means if you didn't ask me precisions.
The USBloader can have problem to initialize the HDD if it doesn't have the proper format.
