i am currently using a usb stick for my game backups but i read that these dont last as long as HDDs and can only last a certain number of write cycles. I'd like to get a hard drive that i can use a Y cable with so that it turns on and off with the Wii U. what HDD recommendations do you have for this? thank you!

Toshiba canvio basic 1tb is the one i use... I recommend you that one as i never had problems with it after 3 years pluged to my Wii U.
