Hacking Updating hard-modded wii + hackmii installer problems?

i currently have a 3.4u system menu and i want to update it, is it okay to do so using internet connection through nintendo? will my wii brick? what about updating through ModMii? i dont have bootmii or homebrew, i tried to install bootmii but it freezes after the scam warning, so i dont have any real brick protection. ive tried installing all wads through wad manager on ModMii in order to have bootmii installer work but some of the cios's and other ones fail to install saying "Ticket (-2011)" and i cant "install and patch ios36" either because that fails. im new at this and ive read all the guides but i just cant seem to get the hackmii installer to work and just want to be able to play newer games.

Have you tried that yet? it sounds like a good idea and theres even a support thread right here on GBATemp..
