I'll fix the exit issue from Rice, I'd never noticed that. Also, I managed to get a bunch more from mupen64plus that I'd missed and I think things are looking better now around interrupt handling. The next release should have BattleTanx working again, Tarzan not freezing and Hydro Thunder playing. Not quite perfect but that obvious bugs I put into 1.4.6 should be fixed.

There's still some problematic titles like Shadows of the Empire just soft locking as well as the menus in Taz Express being horribly slow, they seem very picky on timing, I'll have to investigate further.

Is there anything that can be done about KI Gold's broken sky graphics? I think KI Gold is one of N64's best fighting games (not hard when there's only like 4 lol) and it would be a dream to see it running well on the Wii

I'm very pleased to have updated some of the listings in the compatibility list wiki. I never thought N64 emulation on Wii would come this far.

https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Not64_Compatibility_List

This list is pretty outdated tbh, I think i'll also make some changes to it too later. It lists Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 as not working although on this latest version of Wii64 Rice, and I imagine earlier versions it works just fine. It works fine in Not64 too, I'm using an english translation patch called freem edition. Not64 has some missing 2D screens whereas Wii64 Rice displays everything making it the better way to play this game.

Yeah, I think I can probably just have another go at this, it's the same thing that GoldenEye does with its sky. I'll revisit it at some point and make it work properly.

Just tried the newest version of Rice and it now properly restarts. I guess I never mentioned that it failed to restart if you didn't load a ROM. I didn't think that was a destination to make. Thanks for all of your hard work emu_kidid!

Looking at Rice now, I see how some games need to be set at certain Clock CPU. Is there a way that we can save these in the rice ini file? And does the regular Wii64 work the same way?

you can always set cpu clock after loading the rom, the default is 2 but some games need 3 like both battletankx games and some need 1 like hydro thunder.

This is incredible. You look away for a moment, and @emu_kidid has already fixed a bunch of games for you. Thank you so much; it’s been a while since I’ve used the Nintendo 64 emulator as much as I have these past few days, trying out games.

If I may make a suggestion, it would be nice if the ROM folders for Rice and Gln had different names, since they also use different boot.dol files. That way, when you launch one of them, you’d only see a list of the games that work perfectly with each one, and everything would be more organized.

but that means to try out games you would need double the memory card space and 2 whole romsets ... doesnt seem worth it to me, also one game might be fixed on gl and you wouldnt try it because it already worked on rice or vice versa so you wouldnt know if there was any progress or regressions.

I understand what you're saying. My suggestion is geared more toward the casual user who wants to keep their ultimate playable list organized.

For example, some people use Not64 for Gln and Wii 64 for Rice so everything isn't mixed together.

If it's for testing romsets, you're right about what you said. It's really not a problem. Anyone who wants it separate can easily edit it with a hex editor.

@xunga
You can have Gln roms on the USB and Rice roms in the SD card or viceversa. You will be able to load any rom from the standalone app for testing.
And if you are using Wiiflow you can link the two .dool to different folders and not having duplicates in the N64 button.

In Not64 you can browse to any folder to load roms. I think it can be set to specify the base folder for roms, but it never worked for me. The only problem is that save files aren't shared with Wii64 although they are compatible (unless I'm missing something). And Not64 isn't compatible with Wiiflow as far as I know.

@emu_kidid Thanks for the latest updates and for expanding the playable games. It's hard to keep track at this rate, hehe. Being able Rogue Squadron and World Driver Championship is insane.

I play on a PAL in a PAL TV compatible with PAL60 with RGB cable. In your firsts updates when I turned on 240p I could see the games just fine, but in the few last releases when I turn 240p on they display in red, even PAL region games.
I see in the settings.cfg you can change Screen Mode and Video mode. But I can't find an explanation about how to customize it. I was trying to force PAL60. I tried the values I use for Not64 but I got a black screen.

What values can be used and wht do they do? Is it posted somewhere? Defaults are:

MiniMenu = 1 -> (0 for classic menu like Not64, 1 for new menu)
Audio = 1
FPS = 0
FBTex = 0
2xSaI = 0
ScreenMode = 0
VideoMode = 0
Core = 1
CountPerOp = 2
NativeDevice = 0
StatesDevice = 0
AutoSave = 1
LimitVIs = 1
Pak1 = 0
Pak2 = 0
Pak3 = 0
Pak4 = 0
LoadButtonSlot = 0

Also, when I go back to interlaced after trying 240p, the image shivers like there is some filter that is missing. It doesn't shiver if you start the game with 240p off. I'm not sure if it was like since the begining.

I can track in which release 240p turned red if you need it. Thanks.

You can open the boot.dol and hexedit search for roms for either gl or rice and have roms/gl64 and roms/rice.

Big Thank You to @emu_kidid Playing Rogue Squadron on wii u lol never thought get this far.

I couldn't help myself and looked into/fixed some of the issues reported: https://github.com/emukidid/Wii64/releases/tag/1.4.8

Hopefully nothing has regressed, mostly a glN64 release again. Yoshi's Story isn't perfect by any means but way better than before.

Rice:
  • All-Star Baseball '99 = flickering shadows in game.
  • All-Star Baseball 2000 = boots and plays now, flickering shadows in game.
  • All-Star Baseball 2001 = boots and plays now, flickering shadows in game.
  • Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (Japan) = hangs some seconds after starting a game and shooting stuff.
  • BattleTanx = requires CPU Clock Divider 3 to boot. Map is missing the enemy position mark.
  • BattleTanx - Global Assault = requires CPU Clock Divider 3 to boot. Texts are partially missing on intro copyright screen and cutscenes.
  • Doom 64 = small smearing on texts. Map Mode 2 is not working.
  • John Romero's Daikatana = the display doesn't shrink anymore when using Video Type>High, wall textures don't warp anymore when you look around. Seems perfectly playable now.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion (Japan) = many missing 2D textures in menus and gameplay, glitched mission screens, many missing vital 2D assets in some missions.
  • Resident Evil 2 = wrong colors, menus are very slow, gameplay has many missing graphics and the screen is flashing continuously in some rooms, 3D models appear in front of 2D. You can now past Kendo Shop without a DSI crash.
  • Tarzan = plays fine (screen scroll is a bit choppy), exploding vertices with some 3D models (Options / Save screen).
  • Taz Express (Europe) = boots and plays fine, small graphical glitch during Taz whirlwind.
glN64:
  • All-Star Baseball ‘99 = improved, still missing some 2D assets in menus, but no more exploding vertices or flickering shadows.
  • All-Star Baseball 2000 = boots and plays now, many missing 2D assets in menus.
  • All-Star Baseball 2001 = boots and plays now, many missing 2D assets in menus.
  • Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (Japan) = completely glitched menus, solid colors block the display in gameplay.
  • BattleTanx = requires CPU Clock Divider 3 to boot.
  • BattleTanx - Global Assault = requires CPU Clock Divider 3 to boot.
  • Bust-A-Move 2 - Arcade Edition = 3 seconds pauses with buzzing sound between some menus. You can see the pointing arrow now, so it is fully playable.
  • Dark Rift = fully playable now, with small sound glitches.
  • Doom 64 = Map Mode 1 works now, Map Mode 2 still not working, floor/walls textures are warping now.
  • Mega Man 64 = black lines on sky/sea, some missing textures like the force field at first stage before the Reaverbot, and missing robot explosions.
  • Mortal Kombat 4 = fully playable, with small sound glitches.
  • Mortal Kombat Mythologies = fully playable, with small sound glitches and randomly accelerated music.
  • Resident Evil 2 = very glitched graphics, wrong colors, menus are very slow, gameplay has many missing graphics and the screen is always flashing heavily. Unplayable.
  • Star Wars - Episode I - Racer = fully playable now.
  • Star Wars - Rogue Squadron = fully playable, with small sound glitches in some cutscenes.
  • WinBack - Covert Operations = main menu options are not invisible anymore, seems fully playable.
Another very good release.
