Hi

So out of boredom and luck, I got my Switch OLED upgraded to 8GB ram and Horizon can now use it via latest Atmosphere + exosphere setting. Currently using it to make 60fps work better by overclocking RAM to like 3GHz and with CPU and GPU overclocks. Hopefully I can figure out a way to make exfs patches that can modify games to use the 8GB ram config.

Can those homebrew ports of like GTA, Android games and the like leverage the actual memory available?

The only retail game that benefits from 8GB of RAM is ToTK and that's only with Ultracam if you want 1440p with like 20fps for some reason or if you want to run a lot of mods. Making other games use 8GB of RAM hasn't been done yet and there's not much motivation to do so.

In terms of homebrew ports that GTA V port I believe higher settings are more stable on 8GB of RAM. Cemu can boot and play more games with 8GB of RAM and when Naga puts out PS3 emulator if he does that will be the same situation.

For Android ports I feel like I can speak on this well with 30+ made :P there is no benefit simply because these games were all designed with low amounts of RAM to begin with so there's no benefit adding more. One exception maybe GTA: SA crashes less because of less OOM honestly IDK.

You may be thinking what about modern mobile games like Genshin and other gacha stuff and yeah they would benefit but they can't be ported because anti-cheat gets in the way.
