Hacking Updating from 3.2U to 4.1U

I am looking to update my brother's Wii to 4.1U, but I understand that the previous guides can brick your Wii with the IOS60 stub. I have reviewed the current guides available, but all are to updrage to 4.2U

My question is two-fold:
1) Does someone have a guide for 4,1U upgrade
2) Is it necessary to upgrade to 4.2U and is it safe?

Well, I suppose I have no objection to 4.2, other than not knwoing much about that version and if it is safe. I remember a time when 4.1 was not completely safe, so that would be my hesitation. If I were to use your guide, then it will get me to 4.2 and update all the necessary IOS and cIOS as well as HBC and preloader?

Also, My Wii is on 4.1, so will your guide get me to 4.2 easily as well?

EDIT: I have answered my own questions after looking at your guide. I am new to all this, but in your guide you mention going from 4.2 to 4.1 for "Region Free Hacks".....can you explain what that entails?
