I'm currently on 10.1 firmware (currently latest) on my O3DS XL emunand.

sysnand is on 9.2 but system boots straight to emunand rxtools usiong themehax, so is quite irrelevant for now

I was just wondering if I leave wifi on, and someone updates the emunand when a future update becomes available. what are the implications? will it actually update my system nand? will it break my emunand?

what would happen?

and are all future updates for O£DS XL guaranteed to work with emunand?

If it's autobooting to emunand, and your nand's aren't linked (not sure if this would affect it - mine aren't linked) it would only update your emunand.
As for implications of what the update might break... we won't know until there're new updates.

yes, I've unlinked mine too. If you try update an emunand to a game cartridge and the Nands are unlinked, which would it update in that case?

Are you sure that's true? If it is, why are people always told to go to Settings and update from there?
It's always worked for me (with unlinked nands).
The only real reason for updating from settings rather than cart (as far as I can tell) is because the cart-updates are usually less complete (for example, the highest cartridge update for fw 4.4 is 4.4.0-4, whereas the 'online' update is 4.4.0-11).
Of course, updating from settings will always apply the most recently cached update (usually the latest update, unless the system blocks updates or doesn't go online very often), but updating from cart allows you to pick which fw to update to if you know which fw's came with which cart.

The update nag is the same update as what you get from Settings though. It won't be less complete.

its been confirmed, card updates are not the full update. its only enough to get the card to load. To get the full update you would do this through the settings. If you're booting to emunand than you shouldn't have any issues when someone accidentally updates your system.

I'm not taking about updates in game cartridges. I'm talking about the update nag you get each time you turn on or wake your 3DS, when it has downloaded the update. Isn't this what the OP was talking about?

The update nag is usually the system update i presume. I know couple months back , somewhere in Q1/Q2 we dicussed the update nag and a way around it. But that was when the system was still booting sysnand.

With regards card updates, I was responding to this post by the OP.

...But, the answer's the same - you only update whichever nand you're on when you apply the update.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
