Is the current audio in 0.52a a known issue? It's quite horrendously bad.

Tested Link's Adventure and Batman on CycloDS iEvo in DS Mode on my DSi.

A small amount of crackling and popping in DPCM heavy games is normal, but I'd hardly describe it as "horrendously bad", so I'm led to believe you're experiencing something else.

I am wondering, is it possible to remap the L and R buttons to switch from Touch Screen use for the Light Gun? My L and R buttons do not work at all and if I use the gun, I'd have to restart my DS to change games.

Bug Report

When I press Game>Extra>LightGun & Swap Screen NDS turning off on Acekard 2i
Once Buttons Don't Respond and I had to turn off NDS.

I'm getting really weird graphical glitches in NESDS .52a. it keeps having the bottom portion of either screen "cut" and repeated, like, I can't see the bottom because the part right above it (about 1 cm high) is repeated over the bottom of the screen.

I can't take a picture because my camera is currently inoperable... but it is happening alright. it's both the top and bottom screens. It does not happen for any other software, or games. I am using a DSTWO, if it matters.
Same thing is happening with me, using DSTWO as well, happens on top and bottom screens, kind of annoying seeing a double image of the lower part of the game or menu.

Not related to this update, my my DSTWO does this as well, but ONLY when I use it on a 3DS. However, it does this with ALL homebrew, not just nesDS, and not all the time.

just delete the entire shortcut section on the .ini and throw it back on the card. You don't really need any of them to operate the emulator...
That doesn't help.

Pressing start or select whilst using the d-pad, is used for short-cuts, by default (I just realised how to change that. There is no way to do it from within nesDS, at least not in 0.50b)
Those nice "features" have caused me no end of grief

P.S. Editing the ini-file didn't work. The #¤&"¤ short-cuts still work. D.S.
0.51a or older versions do NOT have the ability to change the short-cuts at runtime.
You cannot disable the short-cuts(start or select) because there may be some other 'nesDS.ini' files in some folders. Try to delete all of them.
In 0.52a, when you change them, you need to click 'Save to nesDS.ini'.
Good luck.

The crackling and popping was severe. To the point where most of the audio was indistinguishable from pure noise.
QUOTE(huiminghao @ Jun 17 2011, 12:34 AM) The 'Raw PCM' should be disabled if it is not used, because it will enlarge the volume of the DPCM at the very start of playing.
I'll double check the ini for the Raw PCM setting and test it again.

EDIT: I lowered the amount of games in the main directory significantly and it seems like the audio isn't as bad. Also, switching Raw PCM on and off has pretty much no effect at all. Still cracking quite badly.

I have a iSmartMM which uses a similar plugin menu to the SCDS2 (I also have a SCDS2 as well).

When I first add the .ini file I have to change the DSTwoicon part to "DSTWO
icon=fat1:/ismartplug/nesDS.bmp" which is fine BUT whenever I change the settings and save to .ini that line is overwritten and replaced with the DSTwo version. Is there any way that in the next version that when you save to .ini nothing is written to that part of the .ini file so that iSmart MM users do not constantly have to edit the .ini file?

E....
In case the 'DSTwo Card' uses the nesDS.ini file, I will get rid of this file and change the cfg file to 'nesDS.cfg' or something else.
I dont know if all the 'Flash Cards' support the eeprom for HomeBrew projects, I'm considering of saving the settings of nesds to '.sav' file.

nesds.ini is shared. You just have to put nesds.ini to /_dstwoplug/. No other nesds.ini on TF is allowed.

Very sorry but you must change nesDS.ini section name. 0.52a setting isn't compatible with 0.51b.

I'm not after compatibility between 0.52a and 0.51b and as I have a iSmartMM I don't have a /_dstwoplug/ folder. All I am asking is when nesDS 0.52a writes to .ini if, to allow compatibility with the iSmartMM, it can skip over the

You mean nesDS is overwriting DSTWO part of nesDS.ini? If true...

@huiminghao: any current thoughts for adding IPS on-the-fly patching, effectively allowing us to have 1 ROM and a bunch of hacks instead of a bunch of patched ROM files?

I will have a try.. Could you send me some examples? Then I can test them....

QUOTE(Buleste @ Jun 19 2011, 07:12 PM) Yes it is.
Sorry the whole file is re-written. I will change that in the next release.

A list of figures in 0.53a:
Barcode(done).
Gesture(almost done). Really nice. To disable the LightGun; To repleace the broken L or R.
IPS(to be started).
nesDS.ini(to be started).

IPS? Is that going to be an option where nesDS can add ips patches 'on the fly' for games hacks and such? If so, very cool=D

edit: i just read AW's post requesting it above =P

btw, i like the new menu, you're definitely making a new beast out of the old nesDS =)

on menu_saveini(), using ini_putl() or ini_puts() are allowed. using other IO isn't allowed.
It can even be against my patch policy...
