Hacking Update to latest firmware from 5.0.X

Hi guys

need some advise, currently my switch running on 5.0.x firmware but i having issue installing latest games as error 0x00234c02 ( tinfoil) . So can i update normally using wifi? or need to use
ChoiDujourNX ?

DO NOT update through WiFi!
If you intend to save the fuses from getting burned update through ChoiDujourNX. Make sure to make a NAND backup beforehand, in case anything goes wrong along the process.
Note that autoRCM must be kept on at all tomes if you want to prevent the fuses from burning.
Additionally you may set up emuNAND and leave the sysnand as it is whilst only updating emuNAND.
I'd advise you to backup your save data too while at it.

sx os latest = 2.8 beta
reinx latest = 2.4
atmosphere latest = 0.9.2 (also grab latest sigpatches if using atmosphere)
Then download update to 8.1.0 through choidujournx

I using 0.9.2 atmosphere, so I can use choidujournx straight download 8.1.0 firmware and update thru there ?

If you're on atmosphere 0.9.2 yes It's safe to do so.
But first make a nand backup with hekate, and while at use any means of deriving the switch keys namely such as Lockpick_RCM and the Lockpick homebrew just in case anything goes wrong along the process.

ok thanks a lot, i try backup now....most of the latest game cant install. So once after i update the NS should be able to read exFAT ? so can i copy my game to sdcard and install from there ? as exFAT able to copy file larger than 4gb

When you are using ChoiDujourNX, you need to make sure you select the exFAT option if you want exFAT support. However, using FAT32 is recommended.

wont it be easier to copy game into sdcard? rather using tinfoil + usb ? i just scare the game copy halfway thru usb and corrupted

That's a matter of personal preference. I've never had any problems with installing over USB or FTP using the DZ version of Tinfoil and nut server. Also, if you want to install from the SD card on FAT32, you can split the NSP files.

If you would rather install large NSP files from the SD card without splitting them, you require exFAT.
